Ultimately in my mind now anyway the rs if they do go on and win it, so be it, saw them win it in 86 from a far better Everton side than they where in frankly one of the most bizarre league season's I can remember.

If the price of seeing them not win it be ones hoping we lose 15 games into a season, and well the game after we should hope to lose by the same standard as spurs are close to them too. Then frankly I cba as we've set ourselves up as the only thing we are hoping for each season us to try give point to help out their rivals which is the saddest thing I can think of.

Hope we win as many as we can regardless of if it helps them out or not,

Spot on mate and I told my 10 year old son the same before. I said listen son, the rs are going to give you so many laughs because their fans build them up so much that they are destined to fail when it comes to the crunch..... But.... They are gonna win trophies along the way, they spend big, they get into positions to win finals so sooner or later they will win the league or a cup or do both and though it'll be gut wrenching, hopefully we'll be doing our own thing at the time and cheering on Everton winning a trophy.

1 Evertonian is worth 20 of that lot and I don't ever let him forget it.

If we did this, we would be declaring that our hatred is based on his race, its not.

I mean I dont hate him, I like what the boy is doing, hes drawing attention to something that should have much more attention.

If we cheer him we would be declaring our hatred is based on his race? Or you mean if we did what it says in the tweet?

It is pretty sad but it's what Everton have done to us. My hope for the season is we win every game between now and the end. My realistic expectation is that a good season will probably be settling for them not winning a a trophy.

This tweet got me thinking.

EFC fans should have a day off from such behaviour this weekend at this incredibly poignant moment.

Give Sterling a good reception as a statement that EFC and its fans understand the issues and are supportive.

Some things are more important.

Don’t really get why we boo him anyway tbh considering he binned them lot off at the first opportunity and they all hate him

We definitely shouldn’t be giving him stick on the weekend tho

Yeah I will him to succeed tbh, obviously not against us.

I've never understood why we boo him, it's not like he is a Kopite, he wanted out, he isnt one of them and never was, I'd love us to show some class and actually give him a reception, if only to wind up scum like Collymore

I don’t know about that really , I’m a bit conflicted . If he was white or hadn’t been given vile abuse by the right wing media and some mouth breathing Chelsea fan he’d have got stick so should be not get any because of that ?

I like him as a player and they hate him but players who’ve played for them always get a bit .

He's been the victim of racist abuse, put his finger up to the right wing media in response (which has riled them no end) and the reds hate him because he binned them off as soon as he could - I'd be very disappointed if he got stick from our end in all honesty and think it would reflect badly on us given the context

I think it could as well and I feel genuinely sorry for him but I hope you take my point , in that we’re changing our behaviour so we’re not perceived to be racist and that’s a sad reflection . Particularly because those that’ll be jumping on us with be very people he’s identified as being directly responsible for creating the situation where he’s racially abused .

I understand that point but I don't think it'd be contrived whatsoever to show respect to how he's dealt with the situation, especially with him calling out rags like The Sun and Mail who have such a detrimental effect to society and especially have had such a negative impact on Merseyside

Firstly I’m not going so I won’t in position to boo him and secondly I’m 50 so not really a booer anyway but I feel that if somebody wants to give him stick I can understand that position and I say that as somebody who was defending sterling from the media on this forum before he called them out and frankly I have the same opinion of them as him .
