True but typically these despot regimes often want a success story (sportswashing) in building a club up - City, PSG, Newcastle.

Utd is a weird one as already a brand name and will cost a fortune to buy.
They're arguably the biggest club in the world in terms of revenue and exposure: they'd be buying a brand with worldwide reach and huge potential.

The prestige is what they'd be buying. Someone who bought Everton would never have that kind of global reach.

Dont understand buying Utd for £5 billion when you could buy an Everton/Leicester/West Ham for £500-800 millions and spend £500 millions in transfer fees/doped sponsorships and have a CL challenging club for a fraction of the price.

FFP has shut the door on that. Why would they pick up a mid table outfit now only to find that if they can’t break in to the top 4 within three years then all their money is of no use as they can’t spend any of it in the following three years.

That's why they'll never have happening to them what could happen to Man City; they're a worldwide brand who sell the league worldwide, and to punish them would taint it and lose that cash cow down the river. Same goes to the RS.

Saudi Arabia - Newcastle
Qatar - Man Utd
UAE - Man City

This is just ridiculous, all the gulf countries are buying football teams

What next? Some rich fella from Kuwait to buy arsenal and another rich fella from Bahrain to buy Liverpool.

It’s absurd

Utterly absurd
The Middle East and the US have the money available to buy the clubs and invest in the squads, so yes apart from Arsenal will probably stay with Kroenke.

This is like asking a rich man why he buys a Ferrari instead of a Skoda
