Time has flown by - by the midpoint of the summer window Brands will have been here two years.
It's difficult to escape reaching a conclusion that whatever work he has put in since his arrival hasn't really had any positive affect at all. It seems like a lot of hot air for no end product.
It's unquestionable that we all want him to be a success but on the evidence so far, he'll need a hell of a summer window, and if that was to materialise, you would wonder how much of it would be due to Ancelotti deciding to step in and take a central role in recruitment.
Time is ticking on his appointment I feel and we cannot afford to be sentimental once again. As it stands we simply cannot afford literally or otherwise the sort of window we had last summer, over again. We don't have the luxury of infinite time and resources and it is imperative whilst we have a manager of Ancelotti's calibre in charge that we maximise the positive effects through sound and balanced recruitment.
So far, and in the main, that's not what has been delivered.
