2019/20 Marcel Brands

I've just been browsing through the forum. A reasonably good run of form, improved performanes (especially by DCL) and most threads have largely positive comments. I asked myself "where are they hiding". We knows the ones, the posters who are only happy if they are attacking a player or other EFC in a thread. So I pop into the Marcel Brands thread and there we are, in their little posse giving MB a good going over.

I'd take a punt that MB knows more about football than the posse added together x 10.

Anyway, good piece of work this week to get DCL signed up to a long term contract. Future looks good.
Holgate and DCL.

Handing out contracts to extend the stay of two players brough in for buttons by other managers / DoFs.

Maybe he'll reflect on that before he spends £30M on another no mark.

I know I dont often spend much time talking about how great Brands is, but DCL's new contract brought up something I think is rather important. Obviously, Don Carlo is a big part of this, our three most promising up and coming players that are now in massive demand have all recently signed new long term contracts with the club. Sometimes you can talk as a fan about how you have high hopes for the club, but you dont see whats going on behind the scenes. The players do. And these players, including those whom the likes of Barcelona would love to have, are saying they see great hope, a great future, and they are excited to be part of that. That speaks absolutely massive volumes about it, about the message Brands has been able to successfully get across, and that this isnt the days of selling your Rooney's to the first team willing to make a push for them. Brands is overseeing a new era, and you dont need to take his word for it, you can take the actions(which speak louder than a thousand words) of those who next season could have gone where they want.

Footy doesn't work like this anymore Dave.

They throw the toys out of the pram and run their contracts down and force the club to cash in.

If a player wants to play somewhere else then let him go and bring someone in instead who wants to contribute.

Well, all I can say is that I cant remember another time when we had a player with 3 years on their contract released from it.

I stand to be corrected, but that is unusual, and it doesn't look good that a DoF was prepared to stand down in the face of another club demanding we release our player like that.

lollollol

We have sold 000s of players over the years.

We had a very average player who wanted to leave and a club who wanted to buy for good money.

"Never done that before"
