Oliver Dacourt, John Collins.
Just off the top of my head.
Lineker had at least 2 years left if i recall.
Which player are you talking about Dave?Well, all I can say is that I cant remember another time when we had a player with 3 years on their contract released from it.
I stand to be corrected, but that is unusual, and it doesn't look good that a DoF was prepared to stand down in the face of another club demanding we release our player like that.
It's unusual and his and Collins' sales were caused by financial issues at the club.Oliver Dacourt, John Collins.

But "we're not a selling club'. Remember?110m recorded loses?
Compare it to Arteta then.As I've said, Lescot's contract was comig up for renewal.
It's comparing apples and pears with Gueye and Lescott, Barkley, Lukaku with his case.
But "we're not a selling club'. Remember?
The more you struggle, the more you get snarled up in the razor wire.
I'll say this: protests like this will be few in number when / if Richarlison is sold this summer.Which player are you talking about Dave?
Brands stood down like Utd had to when Ronaldo demanded to move to Madrid, like Liverpool did when Coutinho demanded to go to Barcelona, Chelsea and Hazard to Madrid, Arsenal losing Nasri and Adebayor to City and then Van Persie to Utd. If those clubs who are in the Champions League can't stop their best players from moving on how can you expect us to?
This situation of players forcing through moves isn't new. Stones, Lukaku, and Barkley have done it to us before Brands got here. None of the clubs above us in the table have been able to stop it happening to their players either so why should Brands be expected to?
The contract doesn't mean a player has to play to the same level if they're denied a move they want. A professional probably wouldn't drop their performances if they're denied a move but if you feel the club is holding you back from moving on with your career how loyal and happy do you think they're going to be playing their footy here?
Those days are over now.
Nobody will be happy to see Richarlison go but after seeing Stones, Lukaku, and Barkley leave in a short period of time I'm mostly numb to our best players moving on now and expect it.I'll say this: protests like this will be few in number when / if Richarlison is sold this summer.
Players come and players go.I'll say this: protests like this will be few in number when / if Richarlison is sold this summer.
You know as well as anyone Dave the players have the power. The first time PSG came knocking he could have downed tools but to his credit he played even better. And as for Lukaku how many come and get me interviews did he need to give?As I've said, Lescot's contract was comig up for renewal.
