Richarlison would sell for double,
Bernard would go for up to 20 mil
Digne would be double money
Iwobi 23 and could return The same amount
Kean could easily sell for double in a year or 2.

what people seem to totally forget is... Brands walked in to a club with no saleable assets, an aging squad and a huge wage bill wasted on players.

He managed to lower the wage bill, lower the age of the squad and has players with resale value.

Walsh spent a£100 mil on Sigi,Walcott and Tosun all 3 have no resale value

Brands bought Richarlison,Digne and Kean for around £100 Mil and you easily double that amount
! ?

It is tough for any DoF to succeed with an intermittently interfering owner and a hands-on Board who back an U23 coach Brands would rather remove. Having said that Brands biggest strength at PSV was developing through the youth system, backed by a patient Board, with the accelerant being scouting and buying cheap young Central & South American talent. That is much harder to do at EFC due to our panicky Board and in UK more generally because of our stricter work permit rules. This may just be an example of a guy who is ideal in one environment but not as effective in a different one.

Richarlison - bought by Silva. Brands just okayed it
Bernard - a profit, yes, because he was on a free, but he's cost the club a mint in wages...and now way he'd go for £20m in his late 20s
Digne - we'd get about £30M - so a £12M profit
Iwobi - lol - he cost £34M and the club will be lucky to get half back.
Kean!! FFS, he's a dud.

Brands cant do his job. He cant buy sufficient good players and he cant shift players out. He just cant operate outside Holland it looks to me.

Think Kean was supposed to be that sort of signing.

One of the most highly rated youngsters in the world when we bought him.

Hasn't quite worked out like that mind

This is the major issue with this argument. Its all hindsight based. Brand supposedly hasn't bought anyone exciting because the ones he has, so far, haven't worked out. If they had its a different story.

Not every single signing will work out. Impossible. But for some reason we expect them too.

Not only that, some fans are saying the transfer policy of targeting players who's big moves haven't worked out is flawed. However, they're the same fans that wouldn't be happy waiting 2-3 years for a group of prospects to improve and gel.

From my POV, targeting players who have had big moves (Digne, Gomes, Mina) that haven't worked out will more often than not provide you with better value (and a better player) than targeting the best players from the teams below you. Why? Cos they are actively looking to sell a decent player whereas other teams want to keep their assets.

Prime example of this is the respective costs of Lucas Digne and Sigurdson.

The other option is to target players at clubs that actively look to player trade or alternatively have a price range in which they would struggle to refuse a big. Liverpool are a great example of this. They picked Mane up for a great price because they knew Southampton actively sold one big player each summer. While Mane was one of their best players they knew he was the only one they could sell for a decent fee as they wouldn't sell Dyke that year.

Under Walsh we got into a position of targeting players that were categorically not available unless for silly money. Hence the Sigurdson deal. We also targetted players that DIDN'T want to come and so we had to offer silly wages (Sandro).

Brands is targetting players at clubs who actively player trade (Gbamin from Mainz) or players who have failed big moves and are looking to kick start their career again. This results in sensible transfer fees and sensible wages. Notable exceptions being players bought from other clubs in this league (Iwobi and Richarlison).

But hold on, he knew what type of man he was working for. He'd witnessed his backseat driving from afar. At the very least that speaks about his inability to analyse a governance situation at a club.

It seems to me he was made a lucrative personal offer and just hoped for the best - that Moshiri would finally step back. He then saw a manager sacked against his wishes and a new manager installed by Moshiri over his head.

He is a useless nodding dog.

He sacked Silva and hired Carlo.

I bet that keeps you up at night.

Digne is one of the best attacking fullbacks in the league. He'd clear 50 mill plus, even in the Covid era

Again, I think you're sort of bending the facts to suit the argument you want to make here. That's fine, obviously, but there's definitely another way to look at it.

It's laughable to suggest we'd get double for some of those players.

As much as i like Richarlison... nobody is paying £80-£100m for him

He was sent home from FF when the carpetbagger and Kenwright arrived. He was arguing Silva's case, and then the axe fell.

Ancleotti's case is well documented: pursued by Moshiri and Usmanov.

Your man is about as credible as a chocolate teapot. A jug headed Dutchman out of his depth.
