2019/20 Marcel Brands

True , he will fast become the scapegoat if he's not careful. People will take Ancelotti everytime over Brands.

100% hopefully hes been doing some research over lockdown as the hit or miss ratio we've currently got running needs to change dramatically.

I can make a case for most of his signings, but hindsight tells us that some of them have been not what we wanted.

I do think he's been unlucky with Gmblammo tho and Gomes was, without being unkind, somebody who had a tough time in Barca, then to come here and bend his ankle like he did, it takes a toll on a man, it really does.

Im willing to give him another window, but Christ he really needs to hit this for 6.

I just can not get over Iwobi.

Everything else I can defend, but Iwobi is BAD.

To be honest, Iwobi is a total horror, no upside, transfer for incredible money. Delph was a brainless signing.

My main worry is that we're two years in now and the usual suspects like Unnnnnnnnsy and Tait are still in charge of the youth players.

Look at the players who have made the step up in recent years, even if they only played for the U23s for a short time

Holgate
DCL

Davies
Branthwaite
Gordon

JJoKe
Lookman

The ones in bold are the only good ones, and three of them were bought in at a decent age. Lookman wasn't good but again the same applies. Only really Gordon has come through the system good enough to play in the first team, and even he has been hit and miss in his current appearance run. Brands has made no real changes to the club's football systems.

Buying a very average Southampton footballer who doesn't seem to do anything well seems the sign of things to come.

I agree on paper most of them look like they have a purpose . Football though is much more than that.

Brands has fell into the reputation and potential trap, his transfers are purely specified to hold value rather than improve the first team.

This summer we need a lot of high quality first team players. He needs to get it right. I think its make or break for us this summer. Back the best manager we've ever had in history and attempt to step up as best as we can. Or flop one more time.

Crucial role for board and football director Brands.

He bought a completely new midfield for Silva and we’ve spent the majority of the season playing Schneiderlin Sigurdsson Davies again.

We can't have it all ways, if he brings in another big name from a big club for a huge fee and salary, then it's a player on the slide taking the money. Gets a youngster in then it's all hopeful wishing they come good.

If we can get someone with the right blend of experience and youth that hasn't cost a fortune to buy or pay, then least there will be takers afterwards if he's not up to scratch. Hopefully if he comes he can do a job until we can attract the players we all want to see here. This has to be the way until we get rid of all of these £80+k players who are just watching from the peripheries.

for me, brands is in the last chance saloon. the summer transfer window should be the final one he's given to prove that he can sign the players to turn us round.

By agreeing to sign Iwobi this man needs to be shown the door. Ancelotti needs to bring in someone he’s worked with in the past and not this clown.

Once again a lot of head wobbling going on about signing a player who doesn't want to come here !
This brands thing is ridiculous everyone who signs players makes mistakes ,he to has had to step up because signing the players he has is simply not good enough for the fans on here ,even the ones he signed in Holland he would get ripped for .He is in a different market now but Carlo will lock heads and we will be fine .
Trust me a couple of good signings and the pressure will be of some others and will be a lot better .

I think I agree with you here to be honest. He's done a shocking job at the club.
We’re meant to be an ambitious club. Someone has to bear the brunt of this season and it should be this fella. Iwobi, Delph, Kean, etc. He’s an utter clown.

When clubs like Burnley are finishing above you, something is seriously wrong.
