You mean like Walsh gave him the oppprtunity to offload the deadwood he signed last summer?

Walshy had lined up Terry from Minder to play centre half and Kieron Richardson to play down the left. Brands found his notes down the back of a sofa in the DOF office and misread it. He ended up signing Yerry Mina and Richarlison. We'll see who was right in May.

Only to you.

Me personally I want to enjoy the Everton staff, not just the players, I want to know that Jimmy Martin is a bit of a joker, I want to know that Contract Dave is a legend, I want to know that Marcel Brands has his head switched on, I want to know that our Manager has a plan.

I suppose thats what happens when you support 2 teams, 1 of them takes a backseat.

Ha ha maybe it does, you will have to try it. I’ve never hidden I have Everton and Celtic season tickets. I also have long term tickets for Croke Park and Landsdowne soccer and Rugby I like a lot of sport, I’ve even done a Tour de France and a Ryder Cup. I have a strong association with Irish language and development of Gaelic games, heritage and the Irish dyaspra, I’m also hugely involved in the GAA. I have family in both Glasgow and Liverpool and knowing a bit about the history of both Cities you will know and maybe are connected to generations of Irish expats, which is why you will always meet Irish on here or in life with a strong loyalty to a club in England and leaning to one of the old firm, you see it in players as well.

My support for both clubs stem from family connections to both clubs and being raised in both traditions and history and visiting family from both cities all my life and going to the games. I can’t remember a compeitive fixture between the two, if it came down to it, it would be Everton. There are about 30 in my family at Goodison every week probably more in Parkhead they look after my seats for me. I lived in Glasgow for a few years and Liverpool for a shorter time, lucky to get to see both sides more then most international fans and many on here who I know share similar loyalties.

I would never deny my loyalty for either, Celtic being more an ethnic association and more loyalty through historic oppression. Everton more enjoyable to be honest, down through the years and if they ever played it would be Everton. I could be less arsed what people with half the knowledge of Everton I have think of that, You’ve got to sit easy in your own skin and own your own stuff. It’s the people club and surely that should mean embraceing people of all make ups and backgrounds. Certinly it’s one of the reasons I support Everton.

Each to their own, as you say you draw satisfaction from the club as you see fit, we are here to enjoy ourselves at the end of the day, That’s the point of a forum different opinions under the same loyalty. I find the cult of individual around Brands Interesting, I hope he is boss, I think at this stage it’s very early to make judgement, we’ve been here before, but ultimately we are debating as the crow flies and speculating, debating and stating opinion.

what have I missed in here? While davek is correct that the manager is the most important person at the club.... Who is suggesting that he isn't?

This window was always going to be challenging for brands new club ,world cup , reducing wage bill .and for me has started brilliantly and now has some breathing space to implement more of his ideas

I agree I presume there are ethics in the football world in regard to negotiations and confidentiality as there is in every business in the world. In any walk of life you don’t want anyone you have done a deal with release those aspects in the public domain let alone on visual media/print media and name dropping you saying how they got a great deal by sticking to their stance and you crumbling. The wider football world will take note.
I find this whole cult odd, you would think we were in the business of success by attracting players and making signings loads as opposed to developing players, a team with a stylish philosphey and winning trophies.
Brands has a very small part to play if at all in developing this team, getting results and winning trophies on the pitch
that’s the measure of our success. On that score he shouldn’t be on TV doing a victory parade. If we ever are that successful it will be down to the manager.

I don’t mind Brands, I don’t like this interview, but he’s done what he has been asked to do in the market and a judgment will be made on results on his recruitment, he should be peripheral now and go quietly about sorting structures particularly youth scouting, far to early for his victory parade or even to say he’s been good in his admin role.
I must say that when PSV were winning ttile after title I didn't think: "The DoF is boss at PSV. He's so successful....and oh aye, Cocu isn't doing a bad job either I suppose".
