Thats fair. I think the comparison is probably closer to the season Lukaku went to West Brom.

As for the above, there's probably a lot of truth in all of the players not being utilised well. With the exception of Sandro (who I would have said was quite limited) I'd say all of them have ability. The issue is though, they all probably require quite different teams/approaches to be successful. I don't think we have really played to any of their strengths. There is a wider issue of recruitment here, that we have sought to by good players with no idea how to utilise them.

Sigurdsson was best when he had a big lump to hit it too. Keane in a side that sat deep and defended it'x box (he'd have looked great for Everton in 2004/5) Klaassen in a side where he's surrounded by players who dominate the ball and he can link it with his energy.

Good recruitment is not just about signing good players, but signing players that fit a system of play and asking them to do things they are comfortable with.
I still get the feeling that our DoF model is this one...

DoF; I've signed player 'A'.
Coach; But he's not what we need
DoF; You're the Coach, coach him till he is

Got rid of so much crap in the summer, likely to get rid of more next more, lots more have expiring contracts next month too.

Kean will come good; don’t really understand why people refuse to give him time to adapt to the league. Iwobi I’m a fan of when he plays in the right position. Delph injury prone but an experienced head in the dressing room and £8m today is peanuts.

Brands isn’t God but I’d still rather have him than not have him. I’m also assuming all those on here who hate him won’t give him any sort of credit for helping get Ancelotti either.

But enough about your time on this message board.

The real story is not understanding that the only reason Ancelotti is here is Brands. But you know that, because based on everything you have said you dont think either Kenwright or "The Carpetbagger" as you call him are smart enough to have convinced him themselves. Backed yourself into a corner of ridiculousness as usual, carry on!
Nope. It's entirely consistent with the carpetbagger's actions. He just got this appointment 4 years too late.

Brands is a chocolate fireguard. He cant possibly remain. His credibility is in the gutter.

Dave let's see what type of relationship him and Ancelotti form first. It could be the start of successful working relationship.

Brands: how can he possibly stay?

Already by-passed by the owner in getting in Ancelotti

How do you know this?

Ancelotti has worked with a DOF in most of his former jobs, the relationship between those two is now the most important one at the club.

Also, I thought your judgement on Brands was reserved for who the next hire at manager was?

Brands: how can he possibly stay?

Already by-passed by the owner in getting in Ancelotti; Ancelotti will be bringing in his own players.

What basis is there for him remaining here?
Probably the basis that Ancelotti himself calls the Director of Football essential, and the fact that he’s worked with a DoF in almost every job he’s had.

It was reserved until a manager was appointed who Dave wasn’t happy with. Then it would be used as a stick to beat Brands with

since it’s a world class manager with unmatched pedigree, it wasn’t Brands’ decision.

come on, keep up.

Claims managers hire is consistent with owners actions...

Ignores that the DoF we got was a high priority of the owner, we’d approached him before and had turned us down at the first time of asking.
