That's absurd. Brands has not wasted any money whatsoever. His investment has grown in value, he's cut salary, and the team is better on the pitch.

He inherited a terrible situation with a bloated payroll and massive wages.
£100k pw for Bernard.

Lol.

That's quite besides the fact he's spent out routinely £20M-£30M in fees on bang average-to-rubbish players like Iwobi, Kean, Gomes; and his failure to shift players out other than to practically give them away for a pittance.

Brands has NOT been value for money. Not one bit of it.

The Walsh/Koeman and then Brands' regimes have pretty much wasted most of the £500,000,000 spent on transfers into the club. I'm not sure where that level of spending places Everton in the table of European club spending for the previous 4-5 years, but it must be right up the top end. And we still look like a club that's got only a decent core of first team players, with inferior PL standard players beyond that core.

To be fair, he inherited a nearly bare larder stocked with Coleman and Baines, an underperforming Keane and DCL, a young Holgate and a Pickford starting the decline. He also inherited a boatload of substandard players, many of whom had albatross contracts. Martinez's bargain bin recruits, Allardyce's Band-Aid and Koeman/Walsh's sloppy work left us in dire shape.

A starting XI is progress from that baseline. Granted, if he hadn't cocked up 2019 summer we'd probably have depth, but find me a top manager/DoF who's never utterly cocked up a window.

If we were Villa we'd have gotten relegated from our nadir; instead, a year later we have a three-time European Cup winner at the helm of a squad in the European places. I'd say we dodged the iceberg and appear to be progressing towards New York here.

Just out of pure curiosity Dave, and without spouting your usual gash. How do you get rid of someone like Yannick Bolasie, who looks like again as ruled out a move??

Let’s here your experience of being in such a situation and how you dealt with it

He doesn’t care, picking up fat cheques and will just say “no value in January” when he’s quizzed as to why we’ve missed the opportunity to do something special this season

Gueye, Rooney, Jagielka, Davies (who had a good first season), Sigurdsson.

He hardly joined the Dog & Duck.

He's had more cash to throw around than he knew what to do with and he;s proven an ill fit for the club. He's Eredivise class - a league where one or two relatively biggish signings plus home grown talent can turn an also ran team into a CL chasing outfit.

Let's just draw a lie under his failed project and crack on. Back to the future should be Moshiri's view.

Kean is worth twice what he paid for him and banging them in for one of the best clubs on the planet, Iwobi is 24 and playing really well, and Roma already offered £7M for Bernard in the summer, but Carlo wanted him to stay. So he clearly has value. You aren't very good at this whole fact thing, are you?

It must be really nice to just spout opinions without any support for them.

Bernard is on at least 135k.

You think Juventus will pay £60M for that lad? And I'm the one spouting opinions without a foundation!

Brands has had something like 100M in sales? In there years? No wonder he couldn't spend like Leicester or Wolves.

He was bought for £27M. But of course. What big club wouldn't spend £54M on one of the best young strikers in the world? Thankfully Brands had the relationship with Raiola to get his signature, especially with Barca, Ajax, Dortmund, Napoli under Carlo, and so many other top clubs going after him. Finding the perfect loan for him to PSG was also brilliant. But again, he's a top class Sporting Director, that's what you expect. Too bad he hasn't had more money to spend, we'd be really in a good spot.
