Just one question.... why do we allow ourselves to say that Richy was a Silva signing and Allan a Carlo signing?

I ask this only because, what if It was Carlo that insisted we sign Godfrey or Silva Sigurdsson etc?

If you’re going to criticise Brands - criticise on the basis of every signing made under him, not on supposition of who may and may not have been the Managers idea - we simply don’t know aside from best guesses - don’t get me wrong, I agree the obvious ones are likely to have been pushed by Marco/Carlo but that might let them off the hook if they asked for others too?
You reckon Carlo paid a lot of attention to Norwich in the Championship do you?

Silva definitely didn't push to sign Siggy as Sigurdsson was here before him.

Hahahaha not at all. Constantly has a blunder in him. Hes the Jordan Pickford of defenders.
Jordan Pickford doesn't make any more mistakes than any other keeper, he's just bad at saving a ball.

Mina is almost impossible to beat off the dribble, is outstanding in the air, is our best CB in possession by a mile, and unlike Keane, can actually advance the ball and hold it under pressure. While Keane's form was great early in the season, it's Mina that kept us in game midweek and that's been the star the last several matches. Keane is good, but limited. We simply cannot play higher lines with Keane playing. With Mina we can.

Brands has had something like 100M in sales? In there years? No wonder he couldn't spend like Leicester or Wolves.
Lookman and Gueye no one could do anything but make a good profit on. Vlasic he squeezed out another £4M on, which was to his credit, but that was taken away by only getting £8M for Funes Mori.

The cash sales he's got back in were perfunctory and could have been performed by the manager.

He was lucky to get anything for that cart horse

Another present from the Spanish charlatan

Well that's just simply not true. He leads the league for individual mistakes leading to goals by a keeper. Possibly only behind that donkey Kepa.

Mina makes Magueye Gueye look like Usain bolt.

He's good in the air and that is about it for him.

I think Keane is a better passer than Mina tbh.

Mina has made about 3 mistakes that cost us during that poor run of form. I can't think of any Keane has had this season.

Sitting there with green XG stats floating over the screen instead of watching the match

"Pickford doesn't make more mistakes than other keepers."

Yes, spot on. It's structural issues like that (which aren't going away any time soon) which completely undermines the environment a DoF would traditionally operate in.

Now, we can argue from that viewpoint that the DoF is a sound position but that the club isn't letting it take shape, and we should allow it to do so; or we can recognise the dominant forces that shape this club and pragmatically go back to the more familiar hierarchy we're used to and scrap the DoF role.

At the moment we are falling between two stools. We need to decisively cut through this Gordian Knot.

I think a lot of people want us to be the enw Dortmund or Leipzig, and are around scouting etc so advocate it. I'm not sure you can just become something you're not.

In fairness you stated that you'd have a bulked up CEO role to oversee the football side of the operation. Which could also work. Someone like David Gill, managing Moshiri above, ANcelotti below and Kenwright sideways may work more effectively.
