Wouldn’t sign him because of Palace’s ludicrous price tag, we offered a reasonable price they said no so we, rightly, didn’t go higher despite what Sky claimed at the time

People moaning about Bernard, Walcott, Bolasie, Tosun going when they are pointless players. What one can you honestly say comes off the bench to change a game? Doubt Brands would be letting them go behind Carlo's back so he obviously doesnt want them.

That's not the point.

Happy for those players to go, but we have nobody - at all - other than the lads getting run into the ground in the first team.

There has to be players coming in. Simply has to happen. That's on Brands to sort out. If he doesn't, he's failed at the last chance he's got, because frankly, he's already failed as it is.

I'm not disputing that. But I am saying that throwing 30m and God knows how much in wages at Alex Iwobi, and desperately trying to pass him off as a first choice signing, was an utterly horrific piece of business.

£30m was too much for Iwobi, not gonna argue that but he has played well at times this season

Yeah, probably but, really, he's massively cocked up here. There's no excuse for it. There wasn't one in October and isn't one now.

I'm not demanding or thinking we should spend £40m. I know that's not gonna happen.

I am expecting him to actually do some work in getting players in, utilising around £300k if not more of weekly wages now freed up, plus possibly a fee for Bernard.

I don't care who is doing the negotiating or coming up with the targets, a major, major and ultimately crucial part of Brands' remit is recruitment. There is no way you or anybody else can look at that bench today and think that it's acceptable for a team pushing for Europe, halfway through a season, with only one senior regular player from this season injured.

Advocated signing him 3-4 years ago though. Just a good all round player, even in a terrible side.

He is and always turns it on against us.

One of those we could have, maybe should have, gone for a few years back like you said. Not really bothered now like but it's more the fact we have no options outside of two lads in not particularly great form at the moment - both of them look knackered too, because they've had to play every game since the start of the season.

But whatever you think he’s done or not done has no bearing on his position here at the club.
