Typically I'd agree being wary about the January window, but letting Walcott and Kean go on loan left Everton significantly lacking in depth. Even a short-term loan would be welcomed as our bench is beyond grim.

I'd agree with loans, as long as its someone with something to prove.

Lads, nobody moves in January. Brands has scoured the globe, trust him.

Matter of time before the rest of you came around.

Carlo has made him look better at his job. I'm not surprised there hasn't been a rush to renew him.

I doubt Moshiri has been impressed by his ability to get a return for the crap Walsh loaded us with and his signings are hit and miss across the board.

TBF there is no way to get a return out of the crap Walsh loaded us with, unless you perhaps sold them as food.

No, and we shouldn't unless the right player becomes available. Our squad is unbalanced because of idiotic buys over the past few years, if we can get them off the wage bill then in the summer some more sensible buying can take place.

Bernard and Tosun both off. Bolasie gone. That's 300k per-week approx in wages (at least) saved.

Also supposedly getting a fee for Bernard.

We have to go and get somebody. That doesn't make it a panic buy. If there's a plan there for a player in the summer, which there clearly should be, then make a move now.

This all comes back to October. It was a failing then and it's compounded now.

I'm not saying he's to blame for tactics etc. He is, however, supposed to know how to build a squad. Our squad is massively imbalanced and he's added to that issue as much as solved it.

Bernard - 120k
Lossl - 30k
Iwobi - £28m fee, reported £70k wages
Kean - £70k wages

Big fees for players who, while they've performed, haven't exactly elevated us massively in the last few years.

Walsh and Koeman and Fat Sam crocked us. Brands has had 3 years and hasn't really managed to do much.

If we have someone in mind who'll improve us, by all means bring them in. I just really hope we've learned our lesson and aren't panicking ourselves into paying idiot money for the likes of Lingard, Alli etc

Honestly mate I wouldn't renew his contract based on what good he's actually done - I've said this all along btw. The only valid reason I've got for it is continuity, but that's a very sad reflection on the state of his job imo.

Five transfer windows and that's the bench, with Sigurdsson and Bolasie still on the payroll to name just two.

Atrocious. You can give him the benefit of the doubt for three windows, but this year he had to get his finger out.

His incomings in the summer were fine, but check the season before - it'll make you wince. Proper dumpster fire, Steve Walsh-esque stuff. I get he had a load of dross to get rid of but FIVE transfer windows and we're still talking about him needing to do it and actively adding to the problem with the likes of Iwobi is ridiculous.

Ahhhhh so I see today is all Brands' fault once again...

Carry on lads.

Who do you think is responsible for us having, midway through the season (exactly midway) when we're in a race for CL and still in the FA Cup...

An 8-man bench (out of a possible 9), featuring two GKs and not one forward.

We have one significant injury of a player who has been a regular for us this season atm too, so can't even blame it on that, and every attacker we have at the club was in the squad today - which is three senior ones, and they all played, and Gordon.

Yes, I'd say Brands takes his fair share of the blame mate.

Iwobi is the only real mistake of that lot; Bernard hasn't done anything but he was free and was worth a go.
