Okay gonna evaluate every player brought in during his reign of terror:
  • Richy - Terrific though a Silva signing (+0.5)
  • Virginia - No opinion (0)
  • Mina - Good addition despite injuries (+1)
  • Digne - Excellent (+1)
  • Bernard - Saw the idea, shame it hasn't worked out (-1)
  • Gomes - The injury makes it difficult to call tbh (0)
  • Delph - Saw the logic, but his injury record was there for all to see, poor signing (-1)
  • Iwobi - Rooting for him but ultimately 35 mil not well spent (-1)
  • JPG - Mr Glass, no one's fault just a massive shame (0)
  • Lossl - Pointless signing (0)
  • Allan - Brilliant but a Carlo signing (+0.5)
  • James - See above (+0.5)
  • Doucoure - See Richarlison (+0.5)
  • Godfrey - Sensational (+1)
So he's done more good than bad in my eyes.

....I really don’t think you can define signings as belonging to somebody else. He’s the DoF, he’s the Board Member who has to agree all deals and has the power of veto.

I’m sure Ancelotti highlights individuals he would like Brands to acquire but Its accurate to say any signings during his tenure are his, good and bad.

This divvy's comments re the transfer window: the notion that we have academy players about to burst through and we'll have to blend that with player purchases is for the birds. Ancelotti wouldn't play Gordon, who looked about as ready as anyone.
Gordon’s last 10 games for Preston

Millwall - started and subbed of after 57 minutes
Bournemouth - subbed in at 66 mins
Wycombe - subbed in at 63 minutes
Middlesbrough - unused sub
Luton - started and subbed off after 66 minutes
Norwich - subbed in at 71 minutes
Brentford - subbed in at 53 minutes
Stoke - unused sub
Derby - unused sub
Coventry - unused sub

He was also not in the squad completely for the Swansea game in between the Norwich and Brentford games but yeah totally ready for Premier League football

He doesn’t use them, also if he thinks we are at just adding 2/3 stage of squad building he’s lost the plot.

We can’t just add 3 this summer otherwise we will be having the same conversation again next summer.

He’s got to bring a minimum of 4 outfield players in and a keeper.

Tbf at least I'm still giving him some credit even for say a Richarlison who Silva wanted, or James and Alan who Carlo clearly wanted. Part of his job is negotiating the best deal for us he can with these players which I think he has done for the 3 mentioned here.

...I know you are, Matey, I’m just saying it’s easier and accurate to say all signings are his.

From what I know, Ancelotti and Brands can identify signings and have the power of veto which is why it’s so important they are ‘on the same page’. Ultimately, though, it’s in Brands scope to manage transfer budget, transfer negotiations and report to the board.

Is that Gordon who cant even get games for 14th place Preston in The Championship?

Yeah, he's ready all right, for League 2.

Judging on the first full window with Ancelotti & Brands, as a team, it is easy to argue that we are in a good position.

Him AND Ancelotti have got us in a position where we have something to play for which has not been the case for a while now.

The most important, and to be honest, the only factor, is that our best manager for a very very long time gets on with him and they are both on the same page. I think he would have been gone if Ancelotti did not get on with him, it would have been a you or me situation and nobody is beating Ancelotti at that game.

All nearing or at the peak of their career too. No fillers.

...and who out of the current u23s is ready to step up...vecaise that's what Brands is saying will happoen: couple of putchses plus home grown.

Over to you to explain this one....
He said he wants to leave space so people can come through, he also said a number are training with the first team daily.

If you want to know about youth you would need a youth expert, that's defo not me.

It’s the LFC model.

Get them a few PL sub appearances to up their value then flog into the Championship for an inflated fee.

I agree with you, Gordon was the most likely and he clearly is nowhere near ready.
