I wasn't saying you were wrong, but I remember a lot of the conversations I was having would be to say to people that it's unlikely a top team is gojng to nip in ahead of us and we'd have to pay whatever it took to get him. Anecdotal evidence somewhat, but that was just what I remember. It's interesting others have different recollection.

No I understand that, and as I say, I appreciate that lots of people did want to sign him. I just keep seeing people saying he was really good in his first season and we were all desperate to sign him. That was true up until about Christmas but absolutely not afterwards.

I just checked, he went AWOL for 2 months and people turned, but the overwhelming thing from March onwards was most people saying anything less than 25m would be a cracking deal.

I mean it doesnt matter, he suffered a very serious ankle injury and at this point I think the majority agree that his up and down form means we cant rely on him for next season.

Possibly as a squad option, but if we want rid, we need somebody who wants to buy.

Yes. I'm not saying you're lying, its interesting how perceptions change over time that's all.

I looked at some of his stats earlier this week, and they are quite similar the 3 seasons. I'm not even sure he was that great up until Christmas. But as I think I've mentioned before, as a fanbase we seem to forgive players a lot when they first sign and then become increasingly critical. Similar with managers.

I'd say hes always been quite an inconsistent performer, but patience has gradually worn out.
 


Why have we got to plan Z for our right hand side which culminated in a CB playing RB and a RB playing right mid?
