He shouldn't have been allowed to run his contract down so close anyway. The very definition of the role shouldn't allow it.

Exactly this, you can't expect players to sign if you've got so little left to run on your own deal. Any agent is going to ask, "why should my guy sign with you when there is every chance you're not going to be here next year?"

Renewing his deal and promoting him to the board were both horrible decisions that are impossible to justify.

IMO, he's got that extension because of Ancelotti. His backing buttressed Brands and kept him in the job.

It’s chronic isn’t it. I’m not certain but pretty sure I saw him down the local 5 a side pitch scouting the over 65’s zimmer frame walking league. Rumour has it there’s a midfielder he has his eye on...

Here's the other thing that should be a great cause for concern: Brands' saying his big idea is to get players from the academy to be included in the first team squad for experience.

We can see what Ancelotti thinks of promoting kids into this first team and that looks like a blind alley to me.

Brancelotti fills me with dread for our future and the production of a crop of young players that we'll need top build this team.

Will be praising Jon-Joe Jenny’s loan period at Celtic telling us how much he’s improved and that a new right back isn’t really required.

When Tosun comes back will be like a new signing.

He doesn't understand Everton football and should have been sacked nevermind given a new deal. His recruitment is poor when he does go into the market. What is worse is his hesitancy to sign for the areas we need. Still no right back after 3 years is either incompetence or stupidity.
