Brands knows he’s stealing a wage and is quite happy to continue doing so, why would you want to do actual work when your boss is an idiot who will pay you just for having a job title? Must be the easiest person in the world to blag.

He must just clock in at FF at 9am, sharpen his pencil, turn his laptop on, play Solitaire by himself until lunch and be relieved he's blagged another 3 hours without anyone noticing he hasn't done anything yet again.

Afternoon comes and he fires up FM2004, signs Freddy Adu and sells him to Utd for a record fee for a teenager.

4pm comes and another successful day in the life of Marcel has taken place.

Rafael is literally out there getting his own players in and now he's ordering reviews on the pre-existing backroom staff at the club. He's essentially doing Brands job for him.

Every other manager since Brands has been in situ has brought in their own players. it's not a uniquely Benitez thing. That's a failure of the owner for not giving him full backing and clarifying his role to any incoming manager.

The review and hiring and firing of backroom staff is a weird one, because that's definitely in Brands remit.

I can't help but think that the biggest blocker to clarity and therefore progress is down to the continued presence of the Greatest Living Evertonian.

He needs shoving out, 5 years too late now mind.
