Brands the scapegoat. How can a DOF run the club when an idiot owner hires a new manager every 12/18mths and allows each of them to bring 3 or 4 of their own players. If we're going to have a DOF he has to identify a style from top to bottom, source coaches and players for the style of the club witthout interference from the owner. Moshiri pipe down and build the stadium. Benitez out next.

He promised much, but, ultimately he has been a failure here. Where to next? Moshiri letting one of his pet super agents look after our transfers? Moshiri deluding himself that Billy Liar and Benitez have got it covered.

I wonder if Moshiri thinks that this shows he is doing something about our situation and that the fans will call off tomorrow’s protest? Does he think that sacking Brands cures the problems, or does he realize that he also needs to get shut of Benitez, Kenwright and Barrat -Baxendale, in that order and replace them and Brands, with people who are qualified and capable of running the club properly?

One more thing, he needs to keep himself a long way away from the day to day running of the football side of the club and delete Jim White’s number from the list of contacts on his phone.

If he was allowed to do his job properly then we may well have been in a much better position. Clearly many players / managers were brought in over his head.

Saying that , you can't say the club is a mess and not have his head on the block alongside the rest. It's still his remit , even if he wasn't completely in control.

Glad he resigned , walk away from this horror show with some integrity rather than stay and run the same circles.

Can’t help but wonder how things may have been different if Benitez would have been willing to sign one of the RBs that Brands recommended. I’m sure Benitez will be happy enough to keep collecting his fat paycheck.

No complaints with Brands leaving however. Can’t be responsible for Iwobi and expect to keep your job.

Oh I'm not arguing he has been bad.

My point is that under a manager with some ability it didn't look bad enough to get him the sack.

Hire Benitez and our players look even worse than we thought, partly due to them being crap and mostly down to Benitez being even more crap than they are.

I diasgree - how many people on here said Ancelotti needed massive investment this summer?

A lot of rewriting of history going on that this squad is somewhat capable of fighting for top 4 or trophies.

Comes to the same thing. He wasn't competent enough to direct football at the club.

Whether that's because he didn't have a clue or he wasn't strong enough to stand up to Moshiri, it really is the same thing - he couldn't do the role.

…Moshiri didn’t empower the DoF to be a DoF. We know players are largely acquired by the Managers and Moshiri, yet many blame Brands for wasting monies.

Blaming him disguises the real problems. You say he should’ve stood up to Moshiri, it sounds like he’s had enough if he’s leaving without compensation.
