Marcel Brands

For me I think Moshiri initially trusted Brands but after he largely wasted £200 million under Silva's tenure he started to give more backing to whoever was manager (Carlo, Benitez).

I have no sympathy for Brands - I wish Moshiri would keep his hands off the wheel and let others run it but you cant claim Brands/Walsh haven't been the main issues at the club in recent years - Moyes is doing a good job with clueless owners at WHU because he has an eye for a top player!
Why was his contract renewed if he didn’t trust him? That is what I don’t understand.

I think the bigger issue is a lack of cohesiveness and shared vision.
I genuinely do not believe there has been a single time since Moshiri joined that the board, manager, DoF (and all hierarchies within the club from youth to first team) have been on the same page.
I understand the need for shared responsibilities within modern football but it only works when everyone is working collaboratively towards the same end goal.
Moshiri has done well enough to secure the new stadium - I can't deny that - although given how much of his ownership is under scrutiny these days I have to wonder if that won't suffer at some point as well.
But in all other aspects the club has declined since he became involved.

There is a lot of cooks in the kitchen - I wish we would either appoint a top DOF like Rangnick and let him do what needs to be done or scrap the DOF model off and give power to the manager like in the Moyes days.

Iwobi was on holiday in Dubai
We were on the last day of the transfer window
Moshiri clearly wanted to 'make a splash' with a late signing as the window had been average at best
Arsenal connections and Kia Joorabchian, his best man involved.

Surely that's enough
I mean there's definitely some indications in there but by no means no guarantees that it was 100% Moshiri.

For all we know, Moshiri says to brands... "I was speaking to my mate at Arsenal who thinks we could get a quick deal done for Iwobi".

Brands says yes. Manager in charge says yes.

We just don't know how it went down.

Therefor shouldn't be pushing this narrative like its gospel, without proof.

Dangerous.

Is there ANYTHING that Dutch fraud will ever take responsibility for?

3.5 years here and he left us 16th in the table and financially broken.

Good job jug ears.
Jug ears had no say in the Iwobi signing even though you really really really want him to be responsible for it Davek. I'm no fan of Brands but the biggest problem at Everton is the Owner, at the end of the day he gave him a 3 year contract in April and then decides to leg him cos Rafael doesn't want him.

I am perfectly content to join those dots to reach the same conclusion as you, but I don't see how it exonerates Brands. Let's say Iwobi worked out, you, as DoF have been undermined and will have a boss who will continue to "find" players via his friendly agent friends and will eventually undo anything you might be trying to build.

My biggest knock on Brnads is that he was unable or unwilling to carve the role out for himself, the boss over-rides him, managers can over-ride him. Where is the professionalism which forces your hand to resign with some integrity?

He sat back, let the chaos reign and pocketed the cash. Happy they binned him, hope it's just the start of a process that transforms us to something resembling a club with a vision of where it wants to be and a plan to get there.

….but we don’t know who he recommended & who he advised against. James, for example, appears an Ancelotti acquisition.

i do agree, it’s likely he recommended some of the deadwood. I’m not actually against him resigning, but I think it reveals the problems rather than solves problems.

My point for a while has been the processes in place at our club. The Manager and owner weild the power over transfers, not the DoF. The owner ignores FFP guidelines despite DoF intervention.

If the DoF had the authority to manage the processes at Everton he’d be solely accountable for the mess, but the processes are managed by the owner & Manager. The reality is, nothing will change with Brands departure.
The ambiguity will end. Benitez and Moshiri will be responsible.

You think the Echo would run with the story if they were likely to face legal action ????

Moyes has a massive backroom setup at West Ham though and it cost a lot to put it together, they also have a huge network of scouts at West Ham. Do we have that? we would also need to shift the old boys club which let's face it ain't happening. Very few clubs have the old skool manager setup anymore as these days there is just too much for one person to do.

I'm just not sure.
I would love a DoF that would run the club properly but I honestly believe Moshiri wants to be involved beyond what a DoF could reasonably deal with.
If the whole Iwobi thing is to be believed, we can't have the owner sanctioning £30m+ purchases without being in agreement with the manager and DoF.
If that's how Moshiri wants to run the club we'll never have a successful DoF or a manager with all the "power".

Wow. You think the echo is the gospel of truth? ?

Thats your proof?

Blimey.
Don't be ridiculous.
If Brands told them he had no involvement with the Iwobi deal, they'll have checked with their legal dept if printing it would see them liable for claim if the club were to utterly refute it.
They might even have got Brands to sign a document stating his claim of no involvement.

lol

...because he briefed some hack at the Echo he didn't.

Naive beyond belief.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Since when do the press concern themselves with whether a story is actually true or false?

?
