Yeh, but dave down the pub said mosh signed himSilva stated "Alex was one of our main targets for this window". And that "Alex fits exactly the profile of player I want." So an extra person in the mix as well.

We dont really know. And while I think brands was right to be let go of, he is just one cog of the wider problem.Yeh, but dave down the pub said mosh signed him
THIS. A thousand times.
When Brands came in we were led to believe we'd start to acquire young talented players from outside the clubs usual scouting channels.
Instead, Brands got mugged off by Barcelona for two rejects they didn't want in Gomes and Gbamin, bought the flawed Moise Kean and handed out the six figure free agent contracts to the likes of the hobbit Bernard.
Even Branthwaite, great prospect that he is, doesn't really go into my "positives for Brands" column. Jarrad was in the first team at carlisle already - did we really hire a former PSV DoF to find a six foot five lad already in the football league playing a hundred or so miles away? You'd hope not.
Nkonkou is the sole Brands signing that fit the brief we were sold. Three plus years, one prospect - it's an extremely disappointing return.
Just about died laughing at this one."Where are the young talented signings?!"
Gbamin (23)
Just about died laughing at this one.
Then you rattle off a list of 16 year olds...is this a wind up?
No I don't count sixth formers lad. They're what's known as "prospects". They're called that because noboy knows if they'll go on and become professional footballers at the very top level yet.So he didn't sign enough young players for you but you don't count 16-year old signings. You're a mad kinda multi.
If you’re on a fixed term contract, then exactly the same as they do.Why do people in football get paid off when they do a crap job?
If I was crap at my job and got the boot what do I get?
So the contract type is a problem? If you’re on a fixed term contract, then exactly the same as they do.
Richarlison, Mina,Gbamin,Kean,Godfrey were all signed for very substantial fees. You could hardly describe them as plucked from obscurity."Where are the young talented signings?!"

+ academy ban.
Not all signings work out but let's not pretend he didn't bring in any young players.
Another problem is: You can't simply buy players anymore. There's a sticky cobweb of managers, DOF's, agents, sponsors, scouts, 'friends'... And they all want money under the table, 'services' provided, some agents even demand playing time etc etc... It's a rotten game these days.
+ working with 87 managers in three years doesn't create a stable working environment.
Still, It's good we got rid of Brands, somebody with no affinity or real loyalty to this club. He was never able to steady the ship. I wonder how much he got paid under the table for some of his duds...
We need a manager with a clear vision of what players he needs. No more looking for a Lukaku 2.0 to make a profit when he moves on...
And never be able to sign another player. Sounds like a solid plan.So the contract type is a problem?
Maybe we need to start introducing a performance related pay structure
