Marcel Brands

Brands wasn't perfect, but he also wasn't given full scope to do his job either. The timing of his dismissal was strange, and has thrown our January transfer window plans into chaos. I think the timing and sudden nature of Marcel Brands firing, is further proof that Moshiri hasn't got a bulls notion about what he's doing really.

We could potentially be entering the January transfer window, without a manager and director of football. But this is what happens when the club owner, is an egotistical maniac who's knows nothing about football.

I don’t think the January plans change with or without Brands. It’s with or without Benitez they do.

Think we regret this fella going. Should of let him do this actual job
Whilst i agree has hasn't been able to do the job he wanted to, he clearly didn't have the balls to make a stand & demand he gets to do it. Instead he signed an extension to continue to be the face & negotiator of our lunatic clueless billionaires expensive whims. Brands chose money over integrity & quality of work. He was made a wealthy man off his first contract so the second contract he knew full well what Moshiri was like, how there was never going to be a full youth programme as expected with Brands arrival & how his job was to facilitate the frivolous stupidity of our owner.
The smooth talking intimidating big Dutch man actually turned out to be a whimp who bent over from day one.

He wasn't fired. He walked. Fair play to him, as that's what most fans (including myself) were asking him to do as there's no point in a DoF when the owner makes all the decisions.

Did any of the players post significant goodbye messages? I don't remember seeing any despite Brands' close relationship with his players being one of the main points of focus in his propaganda documentary The Architect.

Yeah right , Benitez won the power battle, Benitez picks the team , Benitez has shown he brooks no dissent when dealing with Digne, like they’ll all be lining to show their support! Which is not meant to be a criticism of Benitez , just the way I see it.

Agreed - this would be like publishing a fond farewell to Deng Xiaoping after Mao sent him to go build tractors during the Cultural Revolution. Good way to end up joining him.
