Marcel Brands

He has been okay to me, not great and not terrible. Some good signings and some bad. Majority of expensive and poor incoming are from second season of Marco Silva. But he has also brought in Lucas Digne, Richarlison, Doucoure and Ben Godfrey.

And I think he struggles to recruit wingers with pace - either that's not his preferred style of player at the wings, or he just didn't want to pay inflated price (because pacey wingers are very inflated even when unproven in PL) - though he did overpay for Iwobi, but it's more likely just panic buy. Luckily, Gray and Townsend were available on cheap.

Well.. Walsh and Marcel and the previous set up have done a great job (sarcasm alert) with well over £150M wasted on injured and, in some case, useless players.

Of course I will credit them with DCL and Stones, Lukaku etc.

But for everyone Romelu there's been a...

Yannick, Theo, Morgan, Oumar, Davy, Ashley, Arouna, Sandro, Mo, Shani, Luke, Leandro, Cuco, Antolin, Cenk, Fabian and some Everton That Injury Hoodoos as well..

Who could have foreseen Seamus getting injured, certainly not Marcel

Well he did but we didn't have the cash to seal the DD deal, Rangers turned down however much we offered them and Arsenal messed us around with AMN. They're the ones we know about.

It's fairly obvious we hadn't the cash to get someone to go straight in as first choice and/or they still saw Coleman as the starter for this season. In which case why bring in someone just for the sake of it when JJK, Godfrey and Holgate can cover that position? That sort of profligacy is why we couldn't spend in this Window.

He’ll be worth double what he is now by the time Juve have to pay us for him. What a deal by the architect.
While Juve seem to have this obligation to buy, I wonder if it works both ways, ie do we have an obligation to sell to Juve? If he has a blinder of a season and Milan or someone in Spain make an offer next summer wonder if we can accept it?
obviously he and Raiola would have to be on board but if there’s a few quid to be made I’m Raiola would be all over it.

Nobody thinks Walsh was good though do they.

Brands negotiation strategy is to offer players out for pennies. The guy has not got a clue on how to negotiate.

Have you ever watched Bargain hunt?

When the team buys something for £100 and it sells only for £25, does the fault lie with the buying team or the auctioneer?

Loan with obligation to buy is just a way of pushing purchases outside of the current 3 year FFP bracket, or in common parlance, "kicking the can down the road".

He’ll be 3 years in to his contract with us by that point, so his worth would have reduced. I think his peak value will be at the end of this season, especially if he has a good season with Juve followed by a decent WC.
