Marcel Brands

Everyone seems to blame brands, but nobody questions the owner who promoted him to the board after 1 year?

The problem is Moshiri has naively put his trust in the snake oil salesman Kenwright who is renowned for being a "footballing man".

Moshiri: "how is Brands doing in his role Mr Chairman?"

Kenwright: "marvelous Farhad marvelous you seen that Richarlison lad? wow what a player. You seen that Yerry Mina oh my Farhad Uncle Cyril just loved a big specimen like him at CB. Give him a new contract".

That's what we are up against.

Well I guess because the decision to let King go was made while Carlo was here?

Perhaps.

But if the board knew we were as cash strapped as we were going to be, then surely there has to be a sense of compromise, and keep hold of what we had.

I'm not saying he's the answer to all our problems, but we let him walk away and we ended up with Rondon, which has been far from ideal.

Making racist comments about lukaku's mum
Failed attempt to get Silva
Sam allardyce
Tosun
Walcott
Appointing Brands
Successfull attempt to get Silva
Promoting brands to the board
Ancelotti
Benitez

All on moshiri. Kenwright is not to blame here.

He's made mistakes of course but the majority came at the start of his ownership in which I think he's since mellowed out and realised he had us too scattergun.

Going forward the main problem is Kenwright still the advisory body as Chairman and Brands also on the board who has a good working relationship with BK.

Hopefully Usmanov's nephew coming on the board ruffles a few feathers.

Completely disagree. He has been consistently failing up to present day.

I will reiterate what I've said in another thread... Next year, we will be even more financially constrained by ffp as the impact of covid will be felt. We lose about 8 senior players who are out of contract. Richarlison will also leave in the summer. That leaves us with 16 first team players. we will be rebuilding on a budget.

We are in a mess and it is due to moshiri.

You say he's realised his mistakes. What has he done to make you think that? Every managerial appointment has been completely different in terms of style, phylosophy and personality. They were all made by moshiri, despite him saying that we needed a DoF to create a consistent culture at the club, regardless of who the manager is. He has interfered with transfers and they have all failed.

So the problem with Moshiri is that he is an incompetent imbecile then?

We have become worse under him and the heavy blame lies by his feet. The stadium is proving to be his get out of jail free card.

100% - its as if the happy clappers know he's screwed us but still naively pin their hopes on the stadium otherwise the whole charade would come crashing down around them. the emperor's new clothes if you will.

Brand hasn't brought the club forwards in any shape what's so ever.
Nothing coming through.
No overseas young talent not getting bought.
Anybody got any positive things he has done for the club?
Needs getting rid of sharpish

He’s been atrocious since those early days when he stuck out like a sore thumb in the stands. Then all the embarrassing radio interviews. Now stuff like that is forgivable if he bank rolls a successful club. However he has done the complete opposite.

I genuinely don't even know where to start with this mess at the moment.

As director of football, I have to start with Brands. Since Moshiri took the club down a DoF model, we have not ran it, not one year. We have a incumbent who doesn't make decisions on the managers, allows the managers to buy the players they want and isn't doing anything to improve the youth situation throughout the club.

This then brings me onto Unsworth, why are we promoting someone to director of academy (I think it is please correct me if wrong), when Unsworth is happier to play a 35 year old Pennington in defence then try and start promoting youth and try, ACTUALLY try, to develop players who are first team ready. Loans are hit and miss, our loans are constantly terrible choices - I understand with a few there are elements out of our control, but still they are poor. His only priority was to win the PL2... not develop players ready for the future.

I was expecting 3 years down the line of Brands to start seeing radical changes in the youth setup, coaching style, players who we are hearing could potentially make it. I just don't see non of this happening, yes it looks like the average age of the U23 squad is coming down, but I feel thats more because we are finally loosing some of the older players who have clogged up the system for years who would never make it.

We are now in a position where we have a complete mishmash of players from Koeman, Silva, Allardyce, Ancelotti and now Benitez, who don't fit a defined system, who don't have an identity. What are we as a club? who answers that question, does everyone remember Elstone's presentation we aim "to be a football club" - right now I feel we are struggling to keep that together, and I laughed my head off at the time.

People NEED to start being made accountable. Communication needs to be clear and transparent, I would rather some honesty from the club then this mess and silence we are in.

I would want the club to clearly define what Brands/Unsworth etc are measured by, whats their success? right now they are massively failing in their roles IMO and need to answer for this. I would love to see "Marcel Brands in the next 5 years aims to have XYZ" same for Unsworth, targets that they are held by, most people in the world are measured by KPI's in the workplace, I cannot see any successes for a lot of the club so surely they cant be working to them.

Sorry for the waffle, am just extremely bored of the situation at the moment, and Brands and Unsworth are right up there with my biggest issues at the moment.

TL;DR - Brands and Unsworth need to be made accountable and have very clear targets which they are measured by.

A couple of embarrassing Moshisms you omitted.

We didn’t let Mc Carthy go because he is part of the family.

Expected losses.

I would say Brands has been made accountable by the person who counts - and he has appointed him to the board as a reward for his efforts.
