Marcel Brands

Starting gun was when the BBC Sport editor had a pop at him the other day.

The word is out beyond our parish; Brands is a failure and he needs to go.

At last he's been placed in the spotlight for judgement.
I always feel like the DoF role at Everton is nothing more than a convenient scapegoat for the owner. If brands goes, moshiri surely has to be under the same level of scrutiny (something he's avoided for 5 years).

Think most people were happy when we signed gomes and we will make money on Kean and gbamin has been a disaster because of injuries not sure that can be laid at brands door .
Iwobi was your classic panic buy at at a stupidity high price

I think Gomes was doing well up until Son deliberately crippled him.

And Gbanin‘s Everton career was smothered at birth with an onfield injury versus Watford.

So I will give Brands a pass on those two.

But the rest of his work has been pretty meh IMO.

We're going into the norwich game tomorrow with a last minute unfit signing as striker cover. Who was clearly signed by the manager not the dof.
Maybe thats not his job or job description. It cant be. Who leaves the thin ice of calvert lewin or nothing option as part of your job.

Moshiri is an expert in putting in fall guys - successive DoFs, now an unwanted kopite manager. Classic misdirection.

Gbamin did look like he couldnt run in his 2 first games for Everton. And now 2 years later he still isnt able to run. Perhaps he never could do it at a reasonable pace?

Whilst im no longer his biggest fan after he gave Keane a new contract. It’s not really his fault that DCL Richalrison and Tosun are all injured at the same time.

Brands might look very different to some if we had a conditioning and medical department that could actually keep anyone fit.

Tosun has been a busted flush for 2 years. Richarlison is not an out and out striker who can lead the line.
We've been on thin ice for way to long where its clavert lewin or nobody leading the line.
Its not good enough imo. Not for a club this size. Its a failure of recruitment on a big scale.

Gomes was dreadful from day 1 after singing on a permanent deal.

The injury is nothing more than a convenient excuse.

I pointed out to said BBC Sport editor that Benitez had been given full control of recruitment this summer.

Said BBC Sport editor, for some reason, took that as me insulting Benitez. Was not the case at all. I was saying it shows how the DoF structure at Everton is not in place one bit.

We've gone from giving Ancelotti the final say on transfers (turning down a £5m move for Bernard in summer 2020), to giving Benitez full control (he wanted Rondon, he insisted no offers could be accepted for Kenny at the end of the window). So we just need to stop pretending we have a functioning DoF structure, and while that should put Brands under question, it should also put the entire top of the club under question.

Maybe he should hire a CEO...a real one?
