Maybe he should hire a CEO...a real one?
Are you trying to say that someone who is a former headteacher and head of a local charity isn’t qualified to be the CEO of a multi million pound company who are part of a multi billion pound industry?

I’m certain no other club in the PL or Championship would have even given DBB an interview. Lucky she’s one of Bills cronies.

Still expecting to see Jenny Seagrove announced as strength and conditioning coach one of these days…

So basically you dont know. You cant point any direction to say here's where he really earns his money.
Isnt the whole point of a dof to recruit and then the manager gets on with it?
If the Everton managers had the input then whats his job? To stand there with his tan and whiten teeth for a photoshoot.
If a manager fails or succeeds on the pitch its there for all to see.
I cant tell you about this dof coz i dunno wtf he does. He certainly doesnt make sure the squad is balanced going into the season.
Just own up. You dont know either.

Neither do you, but you ignore some of the good signings but just harp on about certain vacancies. AS for Iwobi at the time it looked a good signing.

But Gilbert lets leave it there and agree on the most important thing. We are ardent Everton supporters.

I promise I'm not on the windup here. I'm confused by something and genuinely asking...

Right now there's a lot of hatred towards Brands and his signings/lack of. I've seen several times people praising Rafael for signing Townsend and Gray for pennies. Two steals who have already paid their fee off.

Why is it that they're attributed to Rafael and not Brands? Is there a way of knowing who signed who?

NO IT NEVER.
Im not the only Everton fan who was crying at the time he was signing.
It was an absolute abysmal decision and many many Everton fans knew it before he put pen to paper.
Very hard to put into words the feeling that a fella like brands was involved in that signing and not question his future involvement in recruiting.
I dont ignore anything. But there are some realities that need addressing. Like going into a game tomorrow so early on in the season with our ONLY main centre forward missing and an abosulte elastoplast patch up in Rondon.
Its quite staggering a club the stature of Everton cant handle one main injury position with nothing worthwhile in the squad.
Im not a fan of this dof stuff anyway. Brands is just confirming that.

It`s one of the simplest rules of GOT mate :

Every GOOD signing is made by the manager at the time.

Every BAD signing is made by Brands.

However :

If a BAD signing turns his fortunes around and becomes a GOOD signing, he then reverts by default to being a managers signing.

Hope this helps ?

No chance townsend is here because of brands. Same as rondon. Benitez has gone back to players he's had in the past.

I expected the DoF would be putting a lot of effort into finding and developing players just below the first team. I would particularly expect this to happen where there are older players such as Coleman. I can see that the idea was to develop Kenny, but there should be another younger option coming through as well.

The DOF as far as I can see should be managing this succession planning. But as far as I can see, it is very I nsufficient.

It was working at left back, then in Nkounkou went on loan and Small left leaving us in a desperate position.

I can’t see any players up-and-coming in central midfield, I can’t see any on the right wing and there only appears to be Branthwaite at CB.

There seem to be one or two options for CF, but it remains to be seen how they develop.

Massive help mate. I assumed it may be this. I'm certain we have the most dramatic, bitchiest fan base going lol

I pointed out to said BBC Sport editor that Benitez had been given full control of recruitment this summer.

Said BBC Sport editor, for some reason, took that as me insulting Benitez. Was not the case at all. I was saying it shows how the DoF structure at Everton is not in place one bit.

We've gone from giving Ancelotti the final say on transfers (turning down a £5m move for Bernard in summer 2020), to giving Benitez full control (he wanted Rondon, he insisted no offers could be accepted for Kenny at the end of the window). So we just need to stop pretending we have a functioning DoF structure, and while that should put Brands under question, it should also put the entire top of the club under question.
He'd have had the perfect righ to reply to you "then Brands is about as useful as tits on a bull, why should he keep his job?"
