Marcel Brands

I agree with most of what you say but
Brands like I have said before is a “Director” of football. What direction is the football meant to be going?
He’s been here for over 3 years and our youth teams get beat every week. There’s nobody coming through that’s noticeable.
The first teams’ squad depth is pathetic and we’ve been crying out for a right back and forward cover for good knows how long
He needs to go and go now.
I agree mate, I'm not disagreeing with Brands tenure at the club. I just find it frustrating seeing blues bend narratives to fit their agenda.

Surely thatsn down to Unsworth?

So Benitez is responsible for:

The Titantic Sinking
Kennedy Assassination
9/11
Release of COVID-19
Lying about James wages / the moon landing

Now he's using his secret cabal of journos to force out Marcel Brands?

Im suprised the fella even has time to commute to work never mind coach the squad with such a busy schedule.

The Barsteward, I've never liked the man, but, I didn't know he'd done all that. Should be in nick if true.

I pointed out to said BBC Sport editor that Benitez had been given full control of recruitment this summer.

Said BBC Sport editor, for some reason, took that as me insulting Benitez. Was not the case at all. I was saying it shows how the DoF structure at Everton is not in place one bit.

We've gone from giving Ancelotti the final say on transfers (turning down a £5m move for Bernard in summer 2020), to giving Benitez full control (he wanted Rondon, he insisted no offers could be accepted for Kenny at the end of the window). So we just need to stop pretending we have a functioning DoF structure, and while that should put Brands under question, it should also put the entire top of the club under question.

Keeping Bernard was insanity while Kenny would make some sense if he was actually premier league level, hes clearly regressed.

Ancelotti had said last season that Brands put forward both Godfrey and Doucoure. Clearly Ancelotti wanted Allan and James.

This summer, Townsend and Rondon were former Benitez players. Lonergan and Begovic dont look like players that Brands would go for and Benitez has stated he was keeping tabs on Gray for years.

Its really quite clear over the past 2 summers who has put the names forward.

I find with the issue with Everton journalists is that they currently don't want to ask questions of the club, or at least, not tough enough ones. Then you get Myers writing what he's been told (which he will have been told, btw, I have no doubt, not saying he's lying) by whichever person he still knows at the club, and you get sycophantic weirdos who are obsessed with every word he says.

Then when someone like Joyce etc writes an opinion piece, he got slated last year/the year before. Now, he did start coming across as a bit bitter, and I believe he was cut at least partially out of the loop, as were a few others who have, magically, come back very much into the loop this summer.

The one thing that really has ruined me this summer has been James' wages going up and up every week. Reputable journalists, and ones I thought would have more about them, have shown themselves up by contradicting their own reporting. Bascombe, O'Keefe, Kirkbride – they've all done this. And that has been from the club. No surprise at all that every time James was set to move or the club were looking for another avenue, his wage just miraculously went up. The 250k story from Bascombe the other day was so predictable.

As for Brands, I don't think anyone knows what he does now. He wasn't getting the final say on any transfers this summer, that's for sure, and the deals that did get done, well it looks very much like Benitez was the driving force to the extent that I don't even think we can be certain if Brands was involved in anything more than some salary negotiations.

Every single bit of media about us has the club influencing what they can say about them.

All you have to do is listen to any Everton podcast and you can tell these aren't honest opinions.

They won't say anything negative about the management of the club. They've all rolled over and accepted a kopite as our manager, the hounding out of our best player, and our hands being tied due to catastrophic financial mismanagement.

If anyone doing these had a pair of stones they would be calling it out for the clown show that it is right now.

We didn't really though did we.

We will have paid most of his wages for 4 years and only got 1 year of sub appearances from him.

It has been a horrific deal like most of Brands' work here.
There would have been a loan fee with psg and juve and it's not like we would have paid the whole fee initially to juve we certainly wouldn't be making a loss on Kean ,for me if Kean was committed I would have kept him instead of a 32 year old on a 2 + 1 deal

I am a firm believer in the DOF system, it gives stability, if used correctly, the DOF makes all the football decisions including transfers and appointing the first team coach.

While I am all in favour of this system, I don't want Brands to be the man who we trust with that power.
I'm really not sure any system works when we are changing managers every 18 months or so

I must admit, this fella is perhaps the most irritating person at the club other than Kenwright, maybe more so given his presence is utterly needless. Moshiri has failed to put competent people into key positions and empower them, so he is ultimately responsible - but he has put his hand in his pocket big time and is the owner, so we're stuck with him. Kenwright has presided over an almost unparalleled era of mediocrity and failure, but at least he eventually found a backer. If the price of that was him sticking around, it's a high one but one that needn't have been insurmountable to our hopes of success. But Brands? What does he do? Why is he even here? We need Moshiri for the money and we needed Kenwright to get Moshiri on board. What do we need Brands for? As far as I can see, he is merely a mudguard for the management board. Cut him loose so we can hold the real culprits accountable.
