Godfrey im on record as saying the jury is still out. Doucoure has good and bad games.
Stop going on like these are top class signings as a justification. They're not.
The point about brands right now is look how bare the squad is in key positions. One injury away from a complete patched up selection. Like tomorrow up front.
Its a very legit question to ask if its his job role why are these issues here right now.

It wasn't a defence of Brands nor a criticism of Benitez. He did reply to me, jumping down my throat about a jibe at Benitez that I did not make. Weirdly enough, he didn't have the decency to reply to my point that he'd got that bit wrong.

I am in the same boat with Brands. I don't know what he does or why he is there, other than atm, he is not fulfilling a big part of the DoF role (whether because he can't, or he's not been allowed to makes no difference to me)

and Townsend and Gray have played a handful of games, yet fans are praising Rafael for bringing them in? See the point I'm trying to make?

Of course Allan/Doucoure/Godfrey have had hit and miss games. They're human and playing in a mid table team. My point is, if you had to place them in the good or bad category, they would most likely be in the good.

Our fans are selective with their views.

Rodriguez does something wrong, fans ignored/made excuses. If Iwobi etc did the same, there's murder.
Brands is the same, he signs a good player and it's deemed to be the manager's buy. A bad signing comes in, it's almost certainly Brands and Brands alone.

I'm not saying he's good or bad, he deserves a lot of stick, as do the board, past managers and players too. All I'm saying is, there's a massive amount of hypocrisy from our fans. Too many bend a narrative to make it fit their agenda.

Personaly i dont think townsend or gray are anything to do with brands. Benitez all over for me.
But thats just my opinion.

A one off piece by a journo, okay.
Butwhen you get 3 or 4 pieces by writers who have close ties with individuals at the club, it raises an eyebrow.

I agree with most of what you say but
Brands like I have said before is a “Director” of football. What direction is the football meant to be going?
He’s been here for over 3 years and our youth teams get beat every week. There’s nobody coming through that’s noticeable.
The first teams’ squad depth is pathetic and we’ve been crying out for a right back and forward cover for good knows how long
He needs to go and go now.
 
Brands signed a fortune on Alex iwobi, that alone should be a firing response.

Not to mention the lack of right back and zero cover at left back, absolutely mind boggling stupidity!
