I see he has been talking to media abroad over our interest in Van Da Beek.

He states he would be interested in him on loan in January if Utd sanction an agreement.

Dont know much about Da Beek but it concerns me if he's still looking at players with little pace. You would hope Benitez reigns Brands in if his targets don’t have the pace this league requires.

….if there’s interest in VDB, it’s because Benitez wants him. Brands will not be talking about any player Benitez doesn’t want, that’s the way it works at Everton.

Ancelotti said he didn't know anything about Godfrey and Brands wanted Doucoure when Silva was manager mate so its certainly 50/50

On the one hand, i think VDB could be a good loan from Jan with a buy option.

But on the other, theres Kessie, Kamara and Zakaria* all out of contract in the summer who will be available on reduced fees or pre contract agreements.

VDB wouldnt really make sense if we could land one of those 3.

*if over his injuries.
VDB makes no sense regardless of signing or not signing any other midfielder . He plays a position that we don't use ......poorly

….what that means is Brands recommended them. Ancelotti will have wanted a certain type of player in midfield and Brands suggested Doucoure. Ancelotti agreed.

Its not 50/50 at all. Brands does not bring his own players in. He’s clearly stated he only brings players in that Benitez authorises. Benitez brings his own players in as does Moshiri to a certain extent.

I imagine Benitez will be much less relaxed than Ancelotti. He’s a control freak (that is not a criticism), there won’t be players coming in to the first team squad that he doesn’t want.

I wouldn’t be his biggest fan, I think he’s wasted significant amounts of money, he’s poor at selling players and I think as an administrator he’s left squad building short in key areas in each window.

Looking at the squad and wage bill we’re heading into a reboot financially, we’re still a year or two in the docks financially, but i see the semblance of heading toward an even keel again, whether that a success or not given his contribution to our problems is debatable however it’s will eventually be benifical for the club in a year or two time.

Hes got to get busy now with agents of players who we get on precontract agreements in Jan

Kessie / Kamara
Mazraoui
Ginter / Romagnoli / Luis Felipe

...and more.

We could actually sign 4 players on precontracts and be far stronger at CM, CB RB.

Surely hes got to be trying to do deals for frees when we need to be prudent for another year?

Why would any of these come here?

This is as much as to the then managers as well as the DoF.
It is, but the only constant at the club in this time period is the DOF, we’ve had three managers since we tried to replace the RB, going back to Sidibe. I’m sure if he would have advised that we need a RB that three managers would have told him where to go.
