Why do you always talk about 5 years and Brands in the same sentence when you know full well 2 of those years he wasn't here and they were an absolute horror show.
He's had enough time to reverse the direction of this club from basket case toward stability. But his actions have made it even more unstable.

Not just that though, it’s the outrageous wages afforded them too….. that’s just as much a millstone around our neck as the transfer fee’s if not more so.

I'm not trying to completely defend Brands; he's made mistakes, but frankly if the Athletic article is true it doesn't sound like anyone would have done a stellar job sitting under incompetent Kenwright and Moshiri.

Frankly I hope this Summer was the new starting line and we try go on from here. We haven't got too many wasters left in the squad. The only "dross" that will still be here after next Summer will be Iwobi and Gbmain if we lump them in with the Delph's for their output.

More, it’s also about value too, players appreciate or depreciate from purchase to selling, probably Digne, Richarlison, Gray we could make a profit on from his signings, in the context of volume of his signings, it’s not great.

In a way transfer fees don’t matter, if you sell the players for more and they contribute to the cause in between, when you look at say Delph, Gbamin, Iwobi, Gomes, Bernard - big investments they haven’t appreciated for the investment made, they are/have been losses waiting to happen, via ongoing cost of a decent wage.

Losing Sigurdsson, Tosun and Delph in summer must be worth £300k per week minimum, £15.6m p/a….. it’s mind boggling

You believe the club is more unstable right now than it was when Walsh and Allardyce left???
I as willing to give him time and I think he has had that. I can’t see any particular direction or style attributable to him.

Given tgd constraints, I would have thought there would be some drive to bring through young players. This was clearly frustrated by Ancelotti. It is slso pretty clear that the transfers are primarily led by the managers. Therefore I wonder what is the point.

He has had some hits and some misses. The hit rate is not amazing. The youth teams are not churning out players. I can’t really see what value is being added.

Kenny & Tosun too, the squad needs investment next summer mind, it needs rebuilding as we’re back to ground zero in terms of numbers. Trading squad positions is key, it’s a big summer for Brands he has to improve in his trading of those squad positions and make them usable assets they are not now.

That's not necessarily his fault; been discussed a lot recently but the talent has to be there to be used and the gap between the U23's and the PL is absolutely enormous. We don't have many good kids but neither do 90% of academies.

Brands will still have 2 seasons to run on his deal from next Summer. With all the dross gone and hopefully money to spend hopefully that's us back into a good position.
why would you think that giving Brands another load of cash puts us in a good position when this self same sage spent a hundred million pounds on Delph Iwobi Kean and Gbamin in one window alone
