Marcelo Bielsa

Bielsa likes a project, somewhere he can go in and rebuild from scratch, from the layout of the training ground, size of the pitch, backroom staff and of course, training methods and style of play.
I just don't see how that would work for him coming in mid-season, especially to work with a squad not equipped for his methods and without a fully united (from what I've heard) board.
Start of next season, whichever league you're in, absolutely, you would love him and he would have a huge impact on your club. Right now, I just don't get how it works.
I get what you're saying here and your insights are appreciated. Honestly though, people have said this about pretty much every manager we've had in the last 10 years. Even Benitez. At the end of the day it would all be down to results. Bielsa'sthe man who finally got you back into the big time, so you love him, why wouldn't you. Same as Wigan fans love Martinez and Newcastle fans love Benitez etc. We don't really feel the same way. I even remember telling my Sunderland supporting brother in law that he'd end up loving Moyes. Spoiler, he doesn't.

That's not quite true. They beat us to put them 5 clear (?) of safety and they got rid of him and went down.
Which part of it is 'not quite true'? Burnley sacked him as they were already hopelessly plummeting under his long term stewardship. They got rid of him. They went down.

Yep, along the way they happened to beat us but hey, we know that story very well and that it says much more about us then the team that managed to beat us ... be it Burnley, Bournemouth, Wolves, Southampton ... Point is Sean does not come with any safety guarantees. He will however likely deliver big time on attritional, defensive, negative, uninspiring and unimaginative football. The horror, the horror.

Yep, when it worked it was a thing of beauty, which is why he was so loved (and is equally still well loved at all his former clubs).
I agree, if we hadn't changed managers last season we'd have gone down as things had clearly stopped working (though other fans would disagree).
And yes the problem was that players were exhausted after 4 years of his methods, players were injured left, right and centre and his desire of having a small squad meant not enough back ups. It's also arguable that we'd been found out to some extent, teams worked out how to play us.
Having said all that, the first 3 years under him were special, he got us promoted after 16 years in the wilderness and gave us the 3 best years in our recent history.
To rebuild a club, change the mindset and way of doing things, there is none better, even if his teams ultimately have a shelf-life.
I’d disagree. The reason being barring losing to Everton in that run. We always got the results against the teams around us. Yes we took a few hammerings against spurs man united and Liverpool with a patched to together team. But had we been pragmatic like the pundits and other fans think we should have we’d have lost 2/3-0 anyway. They had better players.

We’d have got the results playing against the likes of norwich, wolves, leicester, Watford to keep us up.

People were short sighted thinking he should have been sacked.

If the 49ers take over is done before the summer, in an ideal world we’d be going back cap in hand asking him to come back. He was willing to return to Bilbao earlier this year.

The problem was the club began looking to replace Bielsa at the start of last season he wasn’t fully supported in the summer and the injuries hit hard. By January they’d already decided on marsch so took it for granted Bielsa would do enough to see us safe and didn’t help him in January.

Injuries got worse and we had a bad month.

Selfishly I hope he turns you down. No one understood Bielsa and was mocked up & down the country, but we understood him and he was ours. I selfishly don’t want anyone else to have that

Which is a bit mad, as the world and its dog, knows that we can’t score goals or retain the ball in the middle of the park.
This is Frank's biggest failing, which since he's an all time great midfielder you would think he'd know better.

Gana is a shell of himself but with the midfielders at our disposal we *should be doing better, in part because we *have done better. There were games in our seven-game-unbeaten streak (remember that?) and in other isolated patches where the midfield looked solid. The derby, for one. We controlled the middle of the park. Granted it's maybe because the RS midfield is maybe even more woeful, but still.

Iwobi and Onana are both good enough to dominate a game IF (if if if) they are put in the proper spots and given a remit and forced to stick to it. Frank wasn't doing that. If another manager with the abilitity/inclination to do so instilled some discipline and positional sense, would we do well enough to stay up with the players we have? Probably?

Bielsa to Everton has the potential to be absolutely incredible or a disaster of epic proportions. I don't think there is an in-between and personally I'm good with that. I'm so fn tired of watching confused, slow, and fake aggressive football. I've never been more disconnected from the club than I am in this moment and there's nothing Kenwright, DBB, or Moshiri will ever do to repair that divide. It will take something out of left field and something that is driven by what happens in the squad and on the pitch.

Sean dyche might keep us up but he's not fixing that. Sam allardyce might keep us up but he's not fixing that.
