Marcelo Bielsa

A manager who’s transformed a toxic Arsenal to being clear at the top of the table and on course for 100 points would have done better at Everton than what we’ve had, mates.
They've spent shed loads of money on top level players that we would never have attracted, they had a plan and they executed it well.

In contrast Areta comes here with no money, a frankenstein squad built from numerous managers and styles of play, a board with no clue or direction and you think he what waives a magic wand and is the answer to our problems.

And what's the definition of better 17th place?? I don't agree that he's the answer, but if your saying he was better than Lampard we couldn't honestly assess that unless Frank was given the tools areta was.

Arteta was linked at the time we took Ancelotti mate. There’s been time and money since. Do you mind me asking if you wanted Arteta at the time?

Not sure I agree with that bit at all

I'd say there's a very good chance we go regardless of who comes in. That being the case, the argument for Bielsa instantly becomes a much stronger one IMO - age isn't too much of a factor as we'd never get more than 2 -3 years out of a manager anyway. You've got someone who got a bang average Leeds side out of the Championship there and, on the small chance he did keep us up, you've got in place a very good manager (albeit one who has a relatively short shelf life)
Yes, I agree with this. Let's face it, there are no easy choices for the club now. Thomas Tuchel is not coming here - and even if he did he might run away screaming. Marcelo Bielsa is a very famous coach of world renown. Now, we can pooh-pooh his record or his results or the fact he sits on a bucket if we like, or we can accept that this man has had a storied career and has made a name for himself as an influential coach, whereas our fashionable previous manager had no record to speak of whatsoever and was appointed purely because of his fame as a player.

Bielsa could fail spectacularly. But then, Frank already did. There is no guaranteed silver bullet here. We are likely to be relegated no matter who comes in, but sometimes beggars can't be choosers and if we can appoint a person of Bielsa's expertise, well, at least we can say we gave ourselves a chance, however small, unlike the last time when we appointed a face.

At the time I preferred Carlo of the two, just because he's Carlo

Arsenal is Arteta's team as well. I don't think he would have attacked the Everton job with the same passion to be honest. The Arsenal gig means more to him. We were just a stepping stone, Arsenal is the club he loves

There are no squads in professional football less suited to Bielsa's method than ours. Therefore he is the exact appointment Moshiri would make. If Bielsa accepts the job it will be comedy gold watching our core of lethargic chancers trying to implement Bielsa's game. Unfortunately the end result would be relegation. Mind you, that will be the case whoever we appoint if we don't make quality additions to the squad.
