Fair enough if you meant to say 'he doesn't know how to stop a defence conceding from crosses' but surely you can see why I was under the impression you were talking generally?

I might have missed one because I'm just going from memory, but thinking back the last goal I can remember us conceding from a header from an open play cross was away at City about 10/12 games ago. It's hardly something that's happening every week.

we are conceding from set plays now every week, if it's not one it's the other!!!

of course is falls on the players mate, 100% it does, it's not all silvas fault

but this needs to be drilled in training everyday until it improves ( because it's not improving at all )

re silva whereas obviously it's not him on the pitch he is still picking these players every week who are at fault every week, I know whats coming " WHO DO YOU PLAY INSTEAD" I don't know, jags is past it and Holgate has gone on loan but were just not going to win many games when we are defending like we are everyweek
It's a tricky one because if you look at it logically there is absolutely no way they aren't training specifically on defending set pieces. Everyone knows we are uttery gash at defending them, it's been in mainstream media for the last month, so it simply cant be the case that we aren't working on them.

Silvas also chopped and changed the defense, digne back in yesterday and kenny in at right back. Coleman and baines costing us two goals on the weekend. Experienced "leaders" in the squad binned off against the best side in the league. It's difficult to say whether its silva or the players just not performing, it's probably a bit of both. My issue is we see the same individual mistakes, same lapses in concentration which can only be controlled by the players on the pitch. No matter how hard the training staff work on defensive positioning, holding a line, movement on a set piece if some idiot falls asleep for a split second it all goes to pieces. I feel for Silva at the moment as we've seen this time and time again, it even extends back to Martinezs reign to be honest. Players performing well within themselves and letting the manager down.

The fact theres a wave of positivity and encouragement going round the forum even though we lost, simply because the players put effort in and looked organized. It says it all. Last two games the young lads have been our best players. What the hell does that say for the experienced players in that team? Half of them are stealing a living at the moment.

I don't think the fans would have appreciated them jetting off, get them down the sand dunes in the wind and rain and out for a chinese, build some morale, how times have changed eh.

Thing is, it's such a weird fad that British fans have.

They aren't holidays, they're mini pre-season camps. Four days of training out in the sun does wonders.

Not just for morale, but all those niggling little injuries that come about at this time of year.

Can have all the sports science in the world, but there's nothing better than good weather!

Sick of conceding from free kicks. Wheres the aggression and the will to win the ball. This team is far to passive.

Played OK last night tho, step in the right direction.

spot on that to be fair, some of them should have ashamed of themselves

Massive over reaction in most quarters about the performance yesterday.

We still got pumped 2-0 at home with calamitous goals and very little threat at the other end.

City didn’t need to shift gears.

Same awful defending. Same players contributing nothing - walcott.

Changes nothing.

And if anyone's arsed they can give their head a shake, tbf. I'm glad we lost. Boo me if you want :D

On the Walcott thing, he was crap. But I think Silva clearly tried to target Laporte by having our fastest player there. It worked to an extent as Walcott got in behind plenty of times. His final ball was awful, though.

Don't get me wrong, I am fully aware they are just training and building morale, a lot don't think like that though, they see the sun as a holiday.

BOO BOOOOOOOOO

Only chance this fella has of survival is if we beat Liverpool it would buy him a bit of time, looking at the fixtures and his results against the top half clubs , we sent going to be winning many more games especially at home ,were are record is shocking.
I didn't want him here in the first place, but did say give him time, all that has proven at the moment is my initial reaction of what has he done to get the job is coming home to roost.
We are getting beat to easy it's not like we are having a bad rub of the green ,most times we are second best in the games .
It can't carry on to long as there isn't the slightest thing to hold onto to say he should be in the job other than we can't keep changing managers, which at the moment seems the only argument to keep him.
Unless there is marked improvement on the pitch in the next few months he looks a lost cause.
