because it's mostly headers, but my point as I have just said twice, is the general man marking of the players scoring, whether that be a set play or a general cross into the box.

I have highlighted in bold, italic and underlined the main point in case for the third time you don't get my main point
That's not your point though is it, your point is that you want Silva out. You tried to lump a direct free kick in with your figures aswell, did he head that? No, it's just anything that makes it sound worse.

My point, which I don't need to bold or anything because I know you're not thick you're just annoyed, is that even if every goal we conceded was from a header it still wouldn't mean he couldn't set up a defence if we didn't concede many goals overall. Our overall defensive record is average, not terrible. We should focus on the proper issues - defending set pieces - rather than making out like there's a huge problem with our overall defensive set up, because there isn't.

wolves fair enough, however jiminez literally scored from a free header in the box with about 10 minutes to go, the same defending which let him score on the weekend ( more less identical goal )

even set pieces aside how many goals are we conceding from headers, atleast 10 goals conceded not from set pieces via headers. he just doesn't know how to organise a defence

Jimenez scored from a cross in open play to the back post, with Keane getting caught underneath the ball.

It had zero to do with defensive set up from a set play, it was simply Baines and Keane both failing to track the run/win the ball.

im on the fence with silva out as I genuinely don't know anyone who could replace him, I just think he needs to do tenfold better with the squad he has available

re in bold, my whole point is people ( just like you have ) are in agreement our problem lies within defending set pieces which of course is true, what I am saying is the problem lies with the general man marking of players ( whether that be from set plays or open play )

I've not once said our overall DEFENDING IN GENERAL is terrible, I've said the over MAN MARKING of players is terrible, they are two completely separate points

Morning Toff, I don't know how true it is, but if what you say about no days off and double sessions is true, could this be playing a part in our poor form also, morale sapped and tired from over training?

With all the sports scientists they shouldn't be tired but makes you wonder.

Morning mate.

It was mentioned several times last week that the first day they'd been in at FF every day.

I'm sure not every day has been intense training. Some will have been slight rehab and prehab sessions, others will have purely been analysis I imagine.

Maybe it could play a part. Maybe it has been too much. But I think that'd say more about the mentality of the squad yet again!

I do really think they should have been off to somewhere sunny and warm back in the first week of Jan, though.

We looked shot after the festive fixtures. We had 8 days between Lincoln and then Bournemouth, with both of them home games.

They could have jetted off on the Sunday after Lincoln and been back on the Thursday with 3-4 good days under their belts.

Okay, so on that point, which I think is a fair one, surely the responsibility also falls squarely - if not mostly - on the players to be more alert?

Drilling and training is obviously key and could be better, but Silva can't make the decisions for the players when push comes to shove.

I don't think the fans would have appreciated them jetting off, get them down the sand dunes in the wind and rain and out for a chinese, build some morale, how times have changed eh.

of course is falls on the players mate, 100% it does, it's not all silvas fault

but this needs to be drilled in training everyday until it improves ( because it's not improving at all )

re silva whereas obviously it's not him on the pitch he is still picking these players every week who are at fault every week, I know whats coming " WHO DO YOU PLAY INSTEAD" I don't know, jags is past it and Holgate has gone on loan but were just not going to win many games when we are defending like we are everyweek

Massive over reaction in most quarters about the performance yesterday.

We still got pumped 2-0 at home with calamitous goals and very little threat at the other end.

City didn’t need to shift gears.

Same awful defending. Same players contributing nothing - walcott.

Changes nothing.

Fair enough if you meant to say 'he doesn't know how to stop a defence conceding from crosses' but surely you can see why I was under the impression you were talking generally?

I might have missed one because I'm just going from memory, but thinking back the last goal I can remember us conceding from a header from an open play cross was away at City about 10/12 games ago. It's hardly something that's happening every week.
