Crackers this, For the majority, me included, I see this year as a year to achieve some stability, playing style and cohesion, look to put foundations down. There are going to be disappointing performances and results, we know the squad is unbalanced, it’ll take time. Let’s not go overboard on when it’s gone well and say we’ve reached a new level and let’s not call for the managers head because we didn’t beat a team who provided defensive resilience that comfortably nullified our attacking options today.
Majority of new signings are unavailable for selection, each was bought to play a part in the first team, so the team we saw today wont be the one that I suspect will be starting come November. We need to keep perspective, we drew and we’re far from convincing. There will be other performances like this as we bed new players in and different ideas from the new manager. I wish we’d have won 5 0 but had we, and it was never likely, expectations would have been even more unrealistic as to where we actually are. Disappointing I know, but this will take time. Of limited consolation perhaps, it seems the errors of our summer madness last year didn’t reach the maligned board at West Ham. And, we may have dodged a bullet n not getting Yarmolenko!! Let’s see how we progress in the coming months when we see the players we bought actually contributing, then we may be in a better place to comment on whether we are going in a direction we all hope and indeed, expect.
