Yes, that was peak Martinez ineptness but I am not going to overly react. Personally, I think Marco (like. Bobbywas) is waaaay out of his depth...but we’re stuck with him (thanks to the carpet-bagger).
It doesn’t depress me at all... it’s just Everton

Silva had a shocker yesterday, no doubt about it. Going toe-to-toe with Spurs was madness but he could point to the fact about the referee and he can't exactly legislate for what Pickford did either, so he was quite unlucky in both respects. You're absolutely correct about the subs, we should have been more cautious after half time, 45 mins is a long time and we didn't need to go gung-ho straight after HT and risk conceding another, which is exactly what happened. We could have afforded to be more patient and bide our time and look for opportunities on the break.

All we can hope is that he has learned a great deal about the squad from these last 5 games. We are a good team, and should have more points on the board than we do, but he should have seen by now that we have a very soft core, especially in centre midfield when we start losing players. We need a striker too, we make chances but we just don't score enough goals, it's a real problem.
Pickford is the fall guy - seems to me the midfield was much more at fault. Complete lack of dig

Completely agree with the vast majority of this, the negative effect of the anfield result, the decent number of chances we're making against good teams, the fact he should be given time to turn things around.

My only real overriding problem is that I struggle to think of any good managers who have lost by 6 goals at home.

That game could easily have been managed to keep the score down but he made 2 attacking subs and an enforced change for gomez. The problems were clearly if defence and midfield. He has given himself a big job to resuscitate the players for the next match.

First PL manager to lose by 6 goals or more at home with 3 different teams, no alarm bells yet?

Pickford was the fall guy, as the team collapsed after his howler.

I`m not saying that we would`ve gone on to win the game, as Spurs made it look like a practice match at times, but his howler was the pivotal moment in changing the game.

Has to be a reason for heads falling off

TBF, people just watched our lovable and humble neighbours go 4 points clear then we got our arses handed to us at home live on sky just to make sure even more people witnessed it,

We're in a bad rut but hopefully a win can give us a lift, a win at Burnley could give us a much needed confidence boost before Leicester at home and Lincoln at home in the cup

It’s a transitional season. He’s not a fraud, a joke, a disgrace, Martinez MK2, nor is he the saviour, he is somewhere in the middle of that.

I couldn’t imagine the sort of chaos it would create if some of you were trusted to make decisions on important things.

I think we need a poll

Yeah, but football is a team game. The fact is a game is won or lost in midfield. I miss the days when you had a Carsley putting it about. They were just strolling around and batting the ball with gay abandon yesterday despite playing away. I mean, Spurs are a good side, but they are not THAT good.

Every time I see that cliche posted on here I think of Father Jack in the episide where he keeps saying “It’s an ecumenical matter” every time Ted said sommat to him.

It is vacuous tripe as no one knows whether we are “transitioning” to something better or not.

Nor will we unless we are sitting in clover two or three years down the road, looking back on the recent calamities and having a good ol’ lol about them and other bumps in the road during this current transitional season.

Because as things stand I think it more likely we are on the manager search.....again....in twelve months time and season 20/21 will become the new “transitional season” :(

We can do nothin about what the rs do.
Sacking our manager won't make them lose games

What we`d do for a player like Carsley in today`s team.

Bobby only managed two PL clubs and also conceded 6 goals at each place...and if he ever got a 3rd appointment, you could guarantee he’d equal Marco’s ignoble record.
Why do these no-mark managers always seem to find a home at Everton?. Hopefully, now that Marcel is here, terrible appointments made by clueless football folk like Blue Bill and Carpetbagger Moshiri are a thing of the past.

What has Marcel achieved that makes you so confident?
