It's also the opposition faced. They are utterly ruthless on the counter attack Spurs. If you hand them any obvious mistakes they punish you. It was a perfect storm yesterday.

We have an awful lot of growing to do to be able to compete with them toe to toe. But Silva did that because he knows that's how we want our team to play. It's no good having too much of a go at a manager who is trying to build a team in the traditions of the club as a cultured outfit...which is how we all see our club and want us to become again. And that was the remit he was handed. Newsflash: if you want to play that way, then you'll suffer some real toeings along the way until you get the right blend of players to carry it off.

PATIENCE.
Agreed Dave, the culture of constantly sacking and hiring new managers is unsustainable and toxic. As long as it doesn't become genuine relegation fears we should stick with the manager and actually try and build something.

Spot on mate. Painful as it was to watch we have to follow the managers and now the clubs philosophy. It will take time to get the right players in but it will happen, meantime we can expect a few more spankings on the way.
We will be pummelled, no question. We've got to take the pain and learn from it, and we have to see Brands get better players in so we can step up to the likes of Spurs and give them a headache to deal with.

There's no quick fix here if we want to get to where we want and playing the style we yearn for.

I feel nauseous even thinking about going through that process again in the near future.

It's Silva - and it's Silva for the foreseeable as long as he hasn't got us dancing on the trap door.

Can't see us even looking at relegation under him, have total faith for the next season or so he can keep us comfortably mid table, 8th to 12th range, while we concentrate on the ground.

Couldn't even bear to contemplate going through more sackings and managers after the last couple of years and several wasters. Got to give him time to rebuild as in a couple of seasons if necessary. Still fuming over the disgraceful performance against spurs though. Wasn't acceptable imo. Sure they are a boss team but we were absolutely crud and shouldnt be conceding 6 goals by any premier league team home or away. We have been poor since the RS fluked it and he has got to get them to bounce back and start moving forward again at a steady pace as soon as possible i.e the next match. Got to get back on track again. We haven't won a game since the 3rd week in November. Lets get it sorted please Marco.

The Silva haters are going to learn a tough lesson here. The club wont sack a manager again who is anywhere near midtable. Too costly; too disruptive.

What worries me is that Watford did very similar things to Spurs and their lack of quality is the only thing that kept us in that long enough to get a really undeserved draw. If his tactical plan can be figured out in three months to the point of total annihilation and he can't fix it once it goes bad, we're going to be in real trouble. Burnley are not going to play the way Spurs and Watford did most likely so we may get away with it but Brighton and definitely Leicester have the players to expose us again if we don't get things fixed.

A lot of our defensive system so far has relied upon Gana to get the ball and shut off all kinds of attacks. Losing him opens up more space and Silva didn't have a solution for it. A system that requires someone as talented defensively as Gana is in midfield to make it even a small amount effective isn't really viable. He's got a big few months ahead because while we are clearly not top 6 level the team has more than enough skill to finish right behind those clubs and set itself up to make a run at them in the next year or two with more good work from Brands. Not sure the manager is up to it yet.
