Lad, under Moyes we WERE a top 6 team. The league was totally different 10 years ago. City and Spurs were nowhere close and if you think back to 2012-13 (Moyes' last season) Spurs were a bit of a mess like we are now.

Koeman we lost every 'top 6' game at home bar Arsenal and Spurs in the first season. Martinez's first season was great because we had a squad in its prime with some great signings and a good feel around the club. Koeman got sacked cos we got hammered by the big teams in that first part of last season.

You're comparing apples and oranges looking that far back.

That was my point mate. We get most of our points at home against non top 6 sides. When we don’t aka Martínez 2nd and 3rd season as well as this season, things won’t go well.

It was the december run of fixtures which cost Silva his job at Watford. They blamed us for it but it appears he just fails as a manager/coach when fixtures are tight. If Silva is here for a few seasons, are we really going to have the god awful December every year?
he wears his players out , making them work extra hard during the first 10 weeks of season.

the drop off in form has all coincided with his drop off at hull and Watford. its a trait of his in this league and as yet he hasn't found an answer. he ran out of time at hull and went down, and was sacked by Watford at this stage last year.. this is new territory for him in this league.

after watching our last several games, I just can not see how he energizes the squad. not unless we bring in 3 or 4 new faces which look desperately needed, but of course Brands has already said, no incomings. his mind may have changed somewhat after todays result

spurs 2-6 in that aswel,Newcastle and Watford at home today all has vast swathes of nothingness, lack of a striker of any note is killing us,Walcott is now a player on the downside and looks like he has zero effort to ever get back what he was last season

The current mess on the pitch is a direct correlation to last season though... how can that not be the case!?

Yes, we were crap today and that is on Silva. But you can't just disregard last season's abysmal form and say it doesn't have an effect. We're trying to do a rebuild from what was a season that set us back possibly years because the top 6 sides improved so much. And that rebuild will take longer than five months. We've had ups and downs in that five months. At the moment it's a down.
Sam sorted out that abymsal form and had us top 6 in terms of form since he came in. That was fact. Had us beating the teams we expect to at home etc. Had the squad working effectively to cover major gaps in the squad.

Isn't the answer moving forward but simply put, the money spent, Silva should be proving himself but all he's doing is proving himself to be a poor manager in my eyes.

Yes, it has happened twice so this means it will happen every year, at least we will be prepared and wont have to watch in december

Fair enough...

Look, it isn't good at the moment. It's dreadful, 1 win in 8. Very bad.

But calls for him to be sacked aren't they answer. They just reek of a deluded fanbase jumping from one manager to the next in the space of months (which is what it has taken for people to turn on Silva - months. Weeks, in some cases).

We aren't getting dragged into a scrap and we are still in that group where we currently belong. We have every chance of finishing 7th. We also have every chance of finishing 10th or 11th, probably. We should aim for as high as possible, obviously.

None of the above will see Silva sacked. And nor should it. He needs more than a few months and one window to try and get us where he wants us to be. There will be pressure, of course, but sack talk really is crazy.

But I thought the transfer window was a good one? We don’t halft jump

He’s had less than 10 league games. Imagine what we might look like after a full season or two and a couple of transfer windows. Hugely positive signs. If he can break the top 6 away hoodoo over the next few weeks then we could be looking at a serious manager here. Tbh it’s just good to see good recruitment for once. After the last few seasons to have a transfer window where every single signing has come in and immediately made the first team and is playing well is brilliant. Contrast to the situation last season where 30 mill signings sat on the bench and kids were taking their spots.
I honestly don't know how some of you cope in real life.

Do you have to pay bills and stuff?

No, I employ someone for that. I’m above all that. I can just sit back and moan without having to worry about the menial things in life.

I think you're forgetting that a large number of our fanbase, myself included, did not want or believe in Silva in the first place.

His poor performance as Everton manager is just solidifying those opinions.

The time to judge is when he has had a season with players mostly of his choice playing for him. That is the end of 2019/2020. He can't turn some of the present poor standard players into good ones, except to insist on effort in return for the huge salaries.

I can't be arsed with you saying about Sam having us top six form. You want to go back to Feb/March last year? Be my guest.

It was also a fact that we were 19th for chances created and shots at goal. That we were one of the worst team in terms of passing and pressing. But okay. Top six form was it? We couldn't even catch a Burnley side that won one game in 11 towards the end of the season.

Up until a few weeks back we were - two blips aside - beating the teams we should do at home. We took a hit in the derby and struggled v Newcastle. We fell asleep for 2 minutes v Watford and were punished. Today we should have drawn. We didn't deserve more but a mistake is what has cost us. Silva's tactics weren't up to scratch.

Under Sam we were gash. Under Silva we have shown signs of promise. A 5-1 win over Burnley, a 3-0 hammering of Fulham, a good away performance in a win v Leicester. Generally good displays on the road (Brighton aside). Gone toe-to-toe with the best sides and really should have got more.

A large number of the Everton fanbase - myself included - have absolutely no say in running the club, and let's all be thankful for that.

When did your poll of fans' opinion take place and what was the sample size and actual result? I don't remember taking part in one, and as a season ticket holder I surely should have been. I would have voted "quietly hopeful. "
