Totally agree with this line. But what IS your line of demarcation with Silva? I'm not going to hold you to anything or say "I TOLD YOU!", I'm just curious about what is unacceptable to you.

its got to be very very hard to defend these performances hasn't it ?

not many marco fans actually logged on at the moment.. wonder why

I can't be arsed with you saying about Sam having us top six form. Get a grip lad. You want to go back to Feb/March last year? Be my guest.

It was also a fact that we were 19th for chances created and shots at goal. That we were one of the worst team in terms of passing and pressing. But okay. Top six form was it? We couldn't even catch a Burnley side that won one game in 11 towards the end of the season.

Up until a few weeks back we were - two blips aside - beating the teams we should do at home. We took a hit in the derby and struggled v Newcastle. We fell asleep for 2 minutes v Watford and were punished. Today we should have drawn. We didn't deserve more but a mistake is what has cost us. Silva's tactics weren't up to scratch.

Under Sam we were gash. Under Silva we have shown signs of promise. A 5-1 win over Burnley, a 3-0 hammering of Fulham, a good away performance in a win v Leicester. Generally good displays on the road (Brighton aside). Gone toe-to-toe with the best sides and really should have got more.

Agree with all of that, however he needs to find away to address the fact that our form and confidence have now dropped off a cliff.

He needs to stop being all “ Martinez “ and accept that you can mix it up, as well as playing possession based footy.

We are so predictable it’s untrue, which may or not be down to the fact that he has no choice but to pick some very poor players due to lack of options.

I know it’s the worst time of the year to bring players in, but we need to do something as a matter of urgency to freshen that lot up.

Genuinely can’t believe some ‘fans’ are trying to justify Silva’s position. It’s actually incredible.

We aren’t finishing 7th this year, and that is an utter disgrace.

I'm not sure how to gauge it but probably if it came to what happened in the end with Martinez - i.e. it being clear the players have lost faith. I really don't see that happening.

He shouldn't - and i don't think he will - go anywhere this season. If we've had a poor season in terms of a finish (like 11th/12th/13th) then the pressure will obviously be on... rightly so.

But we didn't get more. And it's not just a two minute blip here and there we've been having blips in most games since the start of this season. Dropping points all over the place.

If you want to ignore facts then that's fine, but Silva isn't progressing us right now and has to show me far more to win me over.

Even something as simple as addressing the fact we look likely to concede every corner we face would help motivate me towards Silva.

Fair enough...

Look, it isn't good at the moment. It's dreadful, 1 win in 8. Very bad.

But calls for him to be sacked aren't they answer. They just reek of a deluded fanbase jumping from one manager to the next in the space of months (which is what it has taken for people to turn on Silva - months. Weeks, in some cases).

We aren't getting dragged into a scrap and we are still in that group where we currently belong. We have every chance of finishing 7th. We also have every chance of finishing 10th or 11th, probably. We should aim for as high as possible, obviously.

None of the above will see Silva sacked. And nor should it. He needs more than a few months and one window to try and get us where he wants us to be. There will be pressure, of course, but sack talk really is crazy.

That's the thing Toff, if we got rid of Silva and brought another manager in, and if after 6 months we were no better under that manager than we were under Silva, do we then get rid of that new manager. We may as well just have a set of revolving doors fitted to the managers office at Finch farm.

I agree mate. I don't think his style is predominantly possession based all of the time. I do think he's happy to mix it up - it's why we're better away, in the main, because we can play on the counter.

But two teams play the game so today we had to take the initiative. As I said in the match thread, i thought his tactics and his subs were poor today. I won't dispute that or go back on it.

And yes, we need players. I wasn't happy with Brands' comments and hope they are just posturing. Because, evidently, we need to freshen it up.

When did your poll of fans' opinion take place and what was the sample size and actual result? I don't remember taking part in one, and as a season ticket holder I surely should have been. I would have voted "quietly hopeful. "
I'm generally speaking on behalf of the mass of posters on here who all agreed chasing Silva was dumb from the beginning. It doesn't change anything, it's just how it is. Not everyone wanted Silva. Is that so hard to believe?
