No way we should sack him now or before the season ends but we have to think of an elite manager in the meantime (I mean DoF should) to take over come June if things dont go as expected, ie finishing 12th or something. I mean just a B plan. Otherwise we will keep signing mediocre managers.

Are we going to have to pay big money to Marco if we terminate the contract in summer?

I can't be arsed with you saying about Sam having us top six form. Get a grip lad. You want to go back to Feb/March last year? Be my guest.

It was also a fact that we were 19th for chances created and shots at goal. That we were one of the worst team in terms of passing and pressing. But okay. Top six form was it? We couldn't even catch a Burnley side that won one game in 11 towards the end of the season.

Up until a few weeks back we were - two blips aside - beating the teams we should do at home. We took a hit in the derby and struggled v Newcastle. We fell asleep for 2 minutes v Watford and were punished. Today we should have drawn. We didn't deserve more but a mistake is what has cost us. Silva's tactics weren't up to scratch.

Under Sam we were gash. Under Silva we have shown signs of promise. A 5-1 win over Burnley, a 3-0 hammering of Fulham, a good away performance in a win v Leicester. Generally good displays on the road (Brighton aside). Gone toe-to-toe with the best sides and really should have got more.

It literally was for a sustained period of time believe it or not

It's OK saying we need a striker and I agree, we do, but we're not creating chances. Now whether a quick mobile striker will alter the dynamics of the team I don't know. His movement hopefully will create space for other players.

Probably not that relevant, but we had 17 attempts on goal today with only 2 on target, and that seems to be the norm in a fair few of our games this season, the ratio of shots on target to the amount of attempts on goal is terrible, maybe a good striker makes the difference to those stats.

Fair enough...

Look, it isn't good at the moment. It's dreadful, 1 win in 8. Very bad.

But calls for him to be sacked aren't they answer. They just reek of a deluded fanbase jumping from one manager to the next in the space of months (which is what it has taken for people to turn on Silva - months. Weeks, in some cases).

We aren't getting dragged into a scrap and we are still in that group where we currently belong. We have every chance of finishing 7th. We also have every chance of finishing 10th or 11th, probably. We should aim for as high as possible, obviously.

None of the above will see Silva sacked. And nor should it. He needs more than a few months and one window to try and get us where he wants us to be. There will be pressure, of course, but sack talk really is crazy.

Think Silva blows it. I don’t see he would turn this around all of a sudden given our poor current form. 5 games against the top 6 so we probably get a point out of them.

I am not convinced. Up to this point, he doesn’t show he got enough to get us back to the top 6. Say if we get 11th after splashing huge amount of cash then what should be our aim next season?

Sam sorted out that abymsal form and had us top 6 in terms of form since he came in. That was fact. Had us beating the teams we expect to at home etc. Had the squad working effectively to cover major gaps in the squad.

Isn't the answer moving forward but simply put, the money spent, Silva should be proving himself but all he's doing is proving himself to be a poor manager in my eyes.
Sam sorted out and improved the form with the addition of just Theo and Tosun.
Silva has added Lucas, Bernard, Mina, Gomes and Richarldson but hasn't even looked like stepping it up another level.

I didn’t say bring back Sam he was useless all I’m saying is Keoman Martinez and now silva are no better. We are an embarrassment. And who suffers us fans. I’ve lost count how must money I’ve put into the club and for what? Mid table mediocrities ???

Look, it was frustrating that we couldn't break through against a team packing it in against us and that they capitalized on the one glaring mistake we made all game. But the point was that they packed it in against us. We dominated the game and just didn't win. I'll take that ANY day of the week over whatever the heck Sam tried to do last year. I think some of you have forgotten. We got hammered 4-0 at Southhampton. We got completely dominated against West Ham and Watford. It sucks to get a bit unfortunately, but the tactics aren't the issue, we are getting players forward and we aren't really giving up THAT many opportunities - Spurs match aside. Do we need better players? Sure, but this is a heck of a lot better than feeling completely hopeless last year against average teams and praying we hang on or get lucky striking them on the break.

I do think when the fixtures thin out to one a week again we will see marked improvement. He can't rely on the second string at all to influence games - Tosun, DCL, Davies, Kenny are all not even close to being good enough, so you need your first team fully fit. Some of the new players like Bernard, Gomes and Mina won't be used to this sort of run (including poor form).

Need to give him chance to get it right, but certainly the first 20 odd games hasn't been good enough.

he wears his players out , making them work extra hard during the first 10 weeks of season.

the drop off in form has all coincided with his drop off at hull and Watford. its a trait of his in this league and as yet he hasn't found an answer. he ran out of time at hull and went down, and was sacked by Watford at this stage last year.. this is new territory for him in this league.

after watching our last several games, I just can not see how he energizes the squad. not unless we bring in 3 or 4 new faces which look desperately needed, but of course Brands has already said, no incomings. his mind may have changed somewhat after todays result
Cool. Did that happen at Hull and all the other clubs he managed?

He played NO ONE. His schedule was a complete cakewalk. He also did not have us in top 6 in terms of form, he moved us up 2 points as we were 2 points out of 8th when he started. Beyond that, it was LUCKY. We created nothing and got lucky as hell and we were STILL terrible.

IIRC, we had the fat manager bounce when he came in. I was happy with Sam at that point. But we were safe by Jan. Not once did he try to push us on.

Silva, for his failings (which really are being totally overblown) has tried to push us on. In some aspects it has worked, in others it clearly hasn't. But we have to stick with him for longer than five months and, whether you wanted him here or not, as a fan you should get behind the team.

Five months. One window. We're 10th. We're close to 7th and can finish there, which will be the aim (hopefully the cup as well). The pressure will be on to improve but the calls for him to be sacked are crazy and would achieve nothing. Nothing.
