I was a bit miffed by that as well, Joey. I understood going more attacking, but the answer wasn't to completely change/lose shape.

But Davies went out of the side because Gomes is a better player. Since that happened, Davies came in and was dreadful v Spurs. I know that's a tough game, but you can't predict that a player is going to go out and be ineffective. If you could, footy would be pretty easy.

I would have started with Tom Davies instead of Gomez......

I'd drop them all if I could, but out squad has no depth. It's up to the players to show that the results matter to them. They are an embarrassment to the shirt at the minute.

I'm not having the tiredness argument. We were yet again outworked and outfought by a team who had just as tight a turnaround. I thoroughly dislike the modern day everton footballer. Overpaid and underperforming. No pressure to succeed. An easy gig.

We need a complete overhaul.

If a player is fatigued, their form will suffer. No?

Thing is they could be fatigued because they have had to play too many games. And they reason for that could be because the other options aint good enough.
Our bench is poor, the likes of Davies Morgan, Jags, Baines, Niasse, Tosun.. Can't start games

That team should be more than capable of beating Lincoln at home and isn't even far off from the first team that was starting before Gomes got fit?

Needs to stop rotating so much. We have struggled partly because Gylfi and Bernard not playing together for the whole game, no surprise we have had no goals. Fine if we go onto win the FA cup as we have rested players but we all know that isn't going to happen, so we should be at least playing the full team at home.

Yes we are unquestionably average and our position reflects that. But it is Silva's job to improve us with the players he has now.

His comments earlier regarding budgets are a deflection of that responsibility. It also suggests a lack of focus.

Things are hard enough without the manager looking for excuses six months in.

We don't need Martinez levels of enthusiasm but he seems to be struggling with this and has to come up with answers.

We were inevitably going to hit rough patches in the season but this slump has gone on too long.

Something I've noticed his plan b of 442 has only worked on a few occasions. It empties the midfield and we get dominated.

This is what annoyed me today

The change at half-time or just after was DCL off, with Bernard on to the left. Rich up top. Or, Davies for Gomes to at least keep the shape.

The latter was evidently planned, yet Silva panicked after their goal and we just ran out of ideas. He needs to quit that because going 4-4-2 has only worked once, v Palace, and even then it wasn't really a 4-4-2.

We are still in a mess, but should also be doing much better.
