We would struggle for top 4 in Portugual. Struggle top 6 in Spain. In fact all the major leagues I couldn't see us in top 5 and we defo would not walk even some of the minor leagues like Croatia, Ukraine etc. Fact is we are not as good as we make out to be and the PL has only got 5 or 6 decent teams and we are not one of them as of yet and haven't been for ages. It's OK criticising other leagues but we need to look at our own league also and not over hype it.
Thing is, the bottom 6 or 7 teams in most euro leagues are like playing league two teams ...

But not in our league. Every game is tough

I agree that the PL is more competitive and harder but nevertheless Everton and all teams outside the top 6 would still be second best in all major European leagues and even in some of the lesser leagues. It is just that a manager from other European leagues are usually scoffed at as being from mickey mouse leagues or 2 team leagues whilst we are basically a 3/4 team league

Obviously a ridiculously hectic festive period was never going to be kind on the players' legs but there has been a noticeable drop in the quality and pace of our game recently.

We just need to progress in the FA Cup and then build from there - generate a bit of confidence back into the players and crowd.

A striker would be nice, a winger would be nice, a right back would be nice and another option in central midfield would be ideal but we have an XI that is capable of better than it has put out in the last month or so and Silva needs to find that level again.
All this please.

This whole festive season and us slowing down thing is all fine and everything, but doesn't make sense when the West Ham and Huddersfield games were exactly like this waaaaaay before these fixtures. And probably a couple of others I can't think of.
I think them type of blips are to be expected with a new manager, that West Ham game in particular tho we had Calvert-Lewin on the wing, Tosun up top, Schneiderlin in the middle etc. and if you compared the two teams West Ham certainly had superior firepower.

Prior to the Derby we were playing our best football since Martinez's first season and we've been in freefall since that (besides the Burnley game). I seen enough in that period to be hopeful that we were putting together a good team that plays good football and competes with the best. Unfortunately the bounce has gone and I think there's certainly a link with the massive confidence loss of losing a derby we could have won with the last kick of the game coinciding with having the most hectic schedule of any team in the prem.

It's easy to see why some are doubting Silva but we've seen that the team is capable of performing at a high level and I'm backing Silva to find that form again.

Hope so. I really do.

I see this Huddersfield game brought up a lot but our starting team that day...

It would be interesting if this actually has legs. Hypothetically maybe Silva realizes he can't deliver what he is meant to. Should he leave he relatively still has his reputation intact rather than being sacked. He can do well at Benfica and then move on again.

Should still be strong enough to beat Huddersfield though no?

And I thought Marco Silva could get us performing?

To be fair, it was very early in the season under a new manager with a weak starting eleven. My concerns over Silva have come after the Derby. Before that was okay with bumps in the road.

losing the derby is no big deal especially with a goalkeeper mistake in the 90th minute and liverpool have a fine squad they have momentum atm, they are playin well they are leading the premier league its no suprise that they beat us. in the other end; everton, we still need quality players to compete higher in the league, beat top teams in their stadiums. you shouldnt be concern over a lose to a top team.
