As it stands he isn't going anywhere. For as long as there is no sustained, credible threat of relegation then I think the incentive is to keep him in place and hope he can turn it around. For reasons more to do with the club saving face and money than anything else.

I'm war wary of sackings and failed managers so I can see the point of doing nothing and battening down the hatches. My own opinion is that even at an early stage, we should be seeing considerably more of an improvement not least in the attitude and energy of the players. If Silva, like the others before him, can't arrest that we just continue in a sort of no man's land.

He is hardly going to be offered a contract extension at any time soon, and in the medium-term, on a three-year contract, I think he would be pushed aside at the end of next season latest if things just continue to drift along as they are. The problem then is deciding on next summers transfer budget for a manager who doesn't command the confidence of the board.

It’s a weird one, dont want to sack him because it creates instability and we’ll probably end up with another dud but at the same time you know he’s only going to get sacked next season so part of the brain says “may as well just get rid now”.

I'm free mate and I'll do a stellar job I promise.

Ive already emailed Graeme Sharp and asked him to forward my email onto Moshiri. I did say I'd need a kitty if 60m fir this Jan though to get myself a striker and a centre mid.

As soon as I get a response I'll let you know.
I'd sort it out with a 50m kitty. And I am out of a job from Monday, so no compo required! I'm off to email Graeme Sharp...

Five managers but only Sam and Moyes were capable of doing what asked of them, it's too many managers yes but that's to do more with bad appointments.
The only reason to give Silva three years is so we can plod along and just think about the ground

Koeman got european football in his first season as wel lbut i take your point.

i disagree personally and i have confidence Silva will prove an excellent manager, im a fan as i said and i liked what he had done since rocking up at Hull.

As a minimum i think when you appoint a manager - any manager they should get three years and only dismiss if relegation is a real threat.

We have to stick with him or player power wins again. There needs to be at least 12 players moved on between this window and the summer, then 4-6 new faces brought in by Silva and Brands. I would then give him until this exact point next season and assess. If we are still languishing midtable then it is fair to look elsewhere.
I'm starting to think player power is a bit simplistic.
Chelsea, Mourinho, Conte and now Sarri are trying to put a system on the players they dont like. Ole Gunnar gives them one they 'like' player power negated.
Cause and effect?

It can’t keep being the managers fault that regardless of which players come in they can only perform for a few games before rapidly declining. Richarlison was looking like the next Rivaldo in the early season. Gomes and Siggurdson too we’re on top of their games. Now they’re utterly useless and being bossed by average premier league players. Even further back the likes of Davies Schneiderlin Tosun, all started well then their form fell off a cliff.

Brands should be conducting a root and branch review into the facilities and coaching staff because there is a rotten core at the club somewhere that needs replacing.
All the managers we have been blaming you're right it cant always be their fault I really dont like Silva, I'd also like to point out that there has been a familiar face there all along, Duncan Ferguson i'm assuming that he has something to do with coaching the forwards, I'd love to know how he actually coaches, there has to be a reason that all our attacking players suddenly become hopeless not long after moving to Everton, Lukaku the exception.

How much will you lose on 12? outgoing players
How much will 8 new ones cost, compared to that cost how many managers can you afford to sack until you find one without a rigid philosophy who CAN get a tune out of an inherited squad, by finding a system that makes the best of what you have.

It's both / all their faults...and I include Moshiri and Kenwright in this. In the next manager Interview round as soon as the candidate mentions his method or philosophy or anything vaguely inflexible, show them the door and cry - NEXT.

Surely pointless even contempleting who can take over. Serioulsy wjho cares its total pot luck.

Fact is we had a perfectly capable manager with proven track record in this league. He did a good job getting us up to 8th when we were in disarray.
We almost certainly would have progressed in the league to 6/7th this year. He stated a club like everton MUST also try and win the FA Cup and with 100m odd to spend he would have got us playing better football than survival dog-fight crap we needed last year. We would also set up against teams clearly better than us on paper in a way to get results. Not laughably try ad beat Lpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Totts at their own game.
Allardyce had a superb opportunity to lay out his credentials and he completely bottled it. He was appointed to stave off a relegation that was never really on the cards (unusual circumstances for him). There was one game where we collectively saw our arse and things looked bad - think it was a tanking by Southampton away, but that aside it just wasn't a threat. So that gave him a free run, over many games, to show everyone that he wants to be taken seriously as a football manager - he wasn't interested.
He's been chased out of every club he's been at where the fans are looking for some progression (rather than Fireman Sam putting fires out). Match day supporters just end up hating him for the dross football he delivers.
