Well the reality of the situation is we look dreadful under Unsworth and will probably go down. The question is are Watford aware of our level of desperation, you'd have to think yes they clearly are and will endeavour to make it as difficult as possible.

Could they physically prevent him from joining us I would guess they could however the likelihood of him resigning is very low you would imagine. The question then is if they keep winning games with him what would be the benefit of them letting him go? They are the sort of club that's one wrong managerial appointment from going down themselves and all the financial implications that has, although we know they've not been shy in hiring and firing in the past.

He hasn't said No. Far from it.

Watford are putting out 'statements' through the media with all the 'matter is closed' nonsense. At the end of the day, if he and or his management start making noise that he's not happy with them not allowing him to leave, it'll speed up.

Lots of posturing from Watford when in reality, they just want a silly Compo offer.

I don't mean him mate as such I mean we're getting told no by the club and as you say they're either slating us in the media for to either keep him or get more money. But which one that is I don't know

Are you for real? They can't pyhsically keep him lol they only keep him if we get told to that's that.

Breach of premier league rules making it unlawful is what I was alluding to. If they did report us they'd have a cast iron case to prevent him from joining us I would have thought ? So in that sense they do get to decide whether or not he stays.

We have a choice - fork out a ridiculous amount of wedge to get our target in, or Unsworth until the end of the season.

There is no argument, pay up Mosh.

Watford will complain to the Premier League should Everton renew their pursuit of him. The club are also prepared to put Silva on “gardening leave” until the end of the season if he quits in an effort to try to push through a move to Everton.

Oh dear.

Gardening leave is normally equal to the required notice period when an employee leaves - 6 months on a two year contract seems extraordinarily long, I'm not so sure that's even at all likely, but obviously it will be in writing.

Highly unusual to have so long - not too sure that's just clubs press release wanting to signal their opposition more than actual terms

I just couldn't see that being at all practical as it may well deter any future ambitious applicants to Watford too

It's as much how they're seen to act as it is how Silva does

Both will affect in some way what comes afterwards

So I’m guessing gardening leave if he resigns means Watford can stop him signing a contract with anyone else should he decide to leave?

I can't see them reporting us we've done nothing illegal we've been rebuffed that's allowed. Unless we know he wants to come and are feeling Watford out and they say no for any amount of money he stays
