Well that would end well for them....to the tune of 10 to 15 mil.
Yes blulouie agreed, which is really why I think its largely empty threats that in practice mean little, it would do untold damage to their own reputation with potential applicants too, and this as much as anything else must deter them anyway.

How much is enough Dave? £15m? £20m? It might have to be ridiculous money to get them to even think about it. Only my opinion, but they're making a stance because we've upset the apple cart.
These people aren't moralists mate. I'd imagine any deal for Silva is held up by the nature of the payment: all upfront or staggered or inclusive of money to be paid off for Cleverley maybe.

Imagine this lot in control of Watford pushing their luck and waiting until the next on pitch downturn to happen there - which it will - and kicking themselves they turned down £10M+ a few months back?

Neither can I.

It's just hard ball. No principles involved.

My worry in all of this is if we can't land a quality manager now we panic and end up with someone like Dyche. If we really want Silva and there's no one better till the summer then best to give it to Unsworth for rest of season and then go for Silva. If things really go to pot then we can start panicking. In the meantime let's keep our cool ;)

I don't think we should mate but I reckon we will go for Unsworth if we can't decide Silva I like the fella but don't think he's what we are looking for and what's required atm imo mate.

I think he'll get us through to the summer, if so we stand a much better chance of getting someone like Silva because clubs will be prepared to do a deal then. Still not sure if we've approached Tuchel yet, who is out of a job.

If we are waiting until the summer I want Simeone, Ancelloti & Tuchel all together like the 3 tenors mate lol

Yes, I see that they're businessmen. But £10m in todays Premier League world isn't exactly a fortune. Using the Clev money is an idea though, so that could be a start.
I just see this one being strung out and we could do without it.
I'm not totally convinced by Silva anyway. But we're light on options.

I wish I shared your confidence in Unsworth - sadly I dont

The last two league games have brought a decent set of results but the performances were a definite cause for concern. Especially Saturday which had us barely being able to string a set of passes together.

I said before the Palace game I could see us being turned over and I can see it again against Southampton. That's absolutely no way to be feeling when going into games against bang average teams.

The truth is we were outclassed by the bottom team in the league yesterday.

I am struggling having to read and hear every day how practically every player on our list is "out of form" or "below his best".
What the heck is going on at our club? It is just pathetic really.
Collectively, a huge mess.

All that money spent and that team on Saturday looked relegation threatened. Honestly, I think there needs to be another £100m spent (minimal) to sort it out. Sadly there's no Lukaku to flog this time around.

It's not so much that players are out of form, the likes of Jagielka and Baines are never coming back.
