Marco Silva

..yep, I read that yesterday when I had a nosey on their fans forum. I notice they have started a new thread, ‘Silvas Replacement’.

It seems like a situation that is looking increasingly complicated. I still don’t think this is about the compensation figure at this stage, I think Watford owners want Silva to stay. We can assume he wants to leave but we don’t know that for sure. What we truly don’t know is any communication between Silva and the owners. It might be a situation where Everton can do no more, it’s down to the man himself now.

Interesting few days coming up.

The Pozzos won't be wanting him now. They're just hanging in for the maximum compo.

He's done an excellent job in a short time, but as far as I'm concerned you can't take him quick enough.

He won't be with you next season. You know that, don't you?

Need this sorting ASAP, we’ve been tragic the last 2 games and been very fortunate to pick up 4 points. Need him in with plenty of time to get us drilled before Southampton. Our squad is so poor though he’s got a big job on his hands.

Was hoping we'd have him in before Thursday. We're out the Europa League so could have easily used the last remaining group games as a 'pre season' to mess around with the team and get to know the players. Obviously Watford making it extremely difficult for us just isnt helping.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say he'll be in the stands for the Atalanta game but Unsworth will be in charge of the stiffs for it. Southampton and then West Ham will be where it's at

Good post, but I think you are wrong that is not about money. It is about money, the Pozzos are businessmen, but the sums we are talking about are quite different. I've copied a post from the Watford board which sums it up perfectly, I think:

Everton fans think its all down to giving us a couple more million than they offered. "It's all down to money".

Well in a way thats right, but only if we can find a new manager who we feel is risk free and will continue the good work and get us into the top ten where we appear to be heading. Everton fans - how easy is it to find a new manager 1/3 of the way into the season?

How much risk is involved?

If we thought losing the coach at this point could see a predicted finish of 13th, 14th or 15th instead of 8th, 9th 10th then we lose about 6 to 10 million in prize money. Any offer so far from Everton ONLY covers anticipated loss of income from disrupting our coach halfway through a season. We parted ways with Joka, QSF and Walter of course, but waited until the close season exactly because it's a ball ache finding someone. Additionally if we went to huddersfield (for example) for Wagner we would expect them to want some compo, whats the point in accepting 10m from Everton to have to pay 6m to replace? Or we get Pardew in for free.

The additional risk is that we do not manage to find a suitable coach and whoever they put in flops badly leaving us in the relegation fight. If we were to get relegated would 20/30/40m be worthwhile compensation from Everton? The answer is emphatically no.

If Everton called in January and we had 28 points, then we could probably weigh up the risk of relegation and say it's so small and only need consider compensation to cover the potential drop in prize money. I've mentioned Troy Deeneys Leicester bids, 25m was a lot, but they clearly turned it down due to the effect it could have had, the risk analysis said we're better off 25m poorer short term, for greater chance of longer term economic benefit. Iggy could have gone to Man Utd but we only sold him when he lost form and became unimportant to the team.

So is it easy to find a manager 1/3 through the season? Ask Everton
.

Yes, you can see Watford's dilemma, what we're offering is quite or extremely small to what they may lose in prize money, replacement fees or even relegation. The risks (for them) just don't add up. If I was them I'd be saying no and issuing as many threats as possible.

That’s the way of the football world eh?

Pozzo doesn't want to help you. He's a businessman. Marco's got a price, like anyone else at Watford and Udinese. The quicker you meet it, the quicker he'll be managing your team for a couple of months before moving on.

Does any one think he's worth giving 10-12 M for as compensation? We already gave 10 M to Koeman and same to Martinez I think. That is 30 M and still no stability as a club and an expensive squad yet to integrate!

Crucial times these. If the club cannot get it right then big Qs ought to be asked from Moshiri.

I hope he turns up at the press conference like this just to rub it in more

What do you want them to do give it to unsworth? - the money is irrelevant until we get it right.

Got to be some movement on this today.

Unsworth is trying to do so much spin that things are improving for us under him that it is starting to scare me that the gullible board may buy it.

There are a couple of elite managers currently out of work. Whilst we may not be the most attractive project right now and maybe we've sounded them out and we've been told to do one but offering that kind of money as an incentive would no doubt change their opinion.
I think Silva looks a good manager, he could be the next Pochettino or he could be another Martinez. 10-15m is an awfully lot of money to find out which he is.
