Marco Silva

I think this whole thing has snowballed in the media more than anything else. I think he’d be a brilliant appointment, but he’s gone from being cagey on his future to being all but guaranteed to come to Everton, with no official indication that this is the case, save for echoes from the Twitter chamber. I just hope he joins, if only for the fact that some people in this thread will look rather silly if he doesn’t.

...to be fair, if this is progressing it’s best not done in public. Saying that, a stalemate might require Silva running to the press if he truly wants to leave. Hopefully there’ll be news today.

Based just on my own hunches mate, we have either agreed or are close to agreeing with them, but are holding off due to Watford wanting to have a man in place instantly they let Silva leave - see what they just did with Udinese - instant permanent appointment when they got rid of their manager.

F\urther to that, at both Watford and Udinese - their owners have a model of frequently changing the manager as a policy - no more than 2 years etc - which they have pretty much been on record as stating is what they desire to maintain doing, if they dig their heels in at a manager wishing to leave - such as Silva apparently does, then it could put in serious jeopardy their model of operating at both clubs, as managers would then see that the arrangement they do when hiring is VERY one sided.

..the bookmakers markets appear unmoved overnight, nothing in this morning’s press, no rumours, no leaks, no Twitter news. Another day of watching, another day of listening. Another day, another dollar.

At university, I was a student of Russian History and Politics and Everton often reminds me of Kremlinology. The Americans created a whole academic sub-division with experts and specialists largely paid to speculate on very little indeed, and more often than not what was not said rather than what was. Some of those folks would have felt very much at home analysing the comings and goings in the Finch Farm car park.

I agree with you and i don't think they are at all bothered about losing a manager because like you say it's sort of their thing but i do think they are well within their right to expect at least a season from a new manager.

Timing it right so they can announce it before the game tomorrow with him running out on the pitch and sliding on his knee's in the centre circle....

Kenwrights currently all in full on show production mode "Dead rubber eh, this will get the fans in"....

One imagines Silva must be really interestef in coming here otherwise he would just have came right out and ended the speculation as this saga cannot possibly be conducive to him doing his job effectively.

It's the league where a manager can get sacked 4 games into his new job mate - like at palace.

With the way Watford cut managers loose as a policy - after a season or two at most, then i don't think they can actually complain when a manager jumps when a probably longer term opportunity at a bigger club comes knocking.

Make no mistake about it, if Silva had bombed there this season - every last Watford fan and their owners would be getting shut of him with zero talk about loyalty or at least owing him a full season etc.

It has to work both ways

Silva is playing the game atm in order to give him the best chance of getting the move mate, and i believe it will get him that move soon.

But he needs to manage it carefully/professionally so as to not damage a building reputation. Leaving so soon after joining will not give the best impression, but by and large the difference in the size of club and 'ambitions' is large enough that both media and pundits alike will kind of let it slide as an obvious unusual circumstance, if he kicks up a massive media storm though he will get stuck with that tag for a long time in this country.

Ultimately as well Silva loyalty to a club that changes managers more than i do socks is probably tempered a lot by the way he was treated by the Sporting owners after doing very well his first season there.

I have been wondering why his price has not been tightening over the past week and I think the answer might lay in the fact that, according to what several of our friends on here have said, Unsie is adjudged the winner if he stays in charge for ten games.

Given that five of those have already passed, only a fool would be lumping on Silva or anyone else right now, hence Silva’s price remaining attractive given the speculation.

Maybe BK threw a few quid on Unsworth and he's just waiting for it to pay out before we bring in Silva. Makes sense really.

Surprised kenwright doesn't get on the blower to Elton John and deal with him directly

West end production of rocket man as compensation
