Exactly. If he can get a tune out of:

Jakupovic, Elabdoulli, Ranocchia, Maguire, Robertson, Huddlestone, N'Diaye, Evandro, Grosicki, Clucas and Hernandez.

And

Gomes, Fermenia, Kaboul, Kabasele, Holebas, Doucore, Chalobah, Cleverley, Carillo, Richarlison and Gray

He can get a tune from us.

Whilst at Estoril think he managed the clubs first ever victory of Porto, first season beat SPorting and drew with Benfica - for a club that size pretty remarkable.

came across this C, exp;laining how after 3 of his star players from Estoril where bought off them by Benfica and Porto he had to reinvent the team again with 'cast-off's'

It has been a trait of Silva’s to invest in players who have been released or rejected at other clubs, and to rejuvenate their careers. The Canarinhosperform at a higher level as a collective than the sum of their individual parts. There existed a palpable vibrancy and belief in his side’s performances that defied their status as both a club and a team.

Just going of a gut instinct here as well - but the way he has an absolutely brilliant home record at every club he's managed does make tme think that supporters buy into it as do the players

...his transfer record is encouraging, if he does come in his relationship with Walsh will be fascinating.

Actually it's the complete opposite - isn't it about occupying passing lanes between players?

Someone else quoted on here about his aggressive pressing game that he likes to employ - anyway whatever tactics he decides to employ - if it involves breaking a sweat then Ross won't be arsed.

Interesting article (more then likely to push the betting) on his tactics... like this part of it..

"But there’s more to it than that. Silva’s tactical philosophy is based around boldly aggressive pressing and a commitment to centrally-focused attacking football, which makes him the perfect appointment for Everton. His Watford team press in a well-organised high block, but rather than hound the ball (like Jurgen Klopp’s gegenpressing system) they mark the spaces between outfield players, mimicking the complexly tessellating shape of Simeone’s Atletico Madrid (hence why Watford rank 4th for interceptions but 12th for tackles in the league this season). It is a considerably more intricate system than most high presses - a testament to Silva’s coaching expertise - and one that doesn’t rely on pace, which is crucial when considering his credentials for such a lopsided, flawed outfit as Everton."

To a great extent he seems to have the best trait that Moyes had - finding players pretty much on the scrap heap and getting them to perform a mile better than anyone thought they where capable off.

The fact he has done a DOF role himself - albeit briefly should mean he is very hands on in what he will want as well.

My Opinion on Walsh atm is at a very very low ebb, hoping he can prove me wrong - but must admit really concerned if he indeed was championing allardyce and Shakespeare for the job as manager and assistant.

Still think ultimately he is a good scout who either isn't being allowed to do the DoF job, or is overwhelmed by all the added workload.

I don't want to say we're going to win the League.

But we're going to win the League.

Aye but as that paragraph says later on mate, it's not pressing the man it's pressing the space if that makes sense, either way better than pressing an extra ten beefburgers into his face which is what Williams does pre match

we shall see how it all unfolds - I'm very nervous about this appointment.

But we're going to win the League.

To ever really emulate say a spurs, we need a manager who can get the best out of the players we have/and buy, we need to pick up players cast aside and turn their careers round (Arteta, pienaar types) and we need a manager whose a bit clued on tactically. and we need to avoid throwing 100m+ down the shitter

Silva ticks all those boxes for me execpt the last one which we won't have a clue about till he comes here and has a window or two

Ended Portos 4-5 year unbeaten home record whilst at Estoril, beat Benfica away - beat Sporting away, beat the rs with Hull, beat Arsenal with Watford,m Beat Barca and Arsenal with Olympiakos, set a European record for consecutive wins to start a season when at Olympiakos, and went something like 3 years without a home loss - spanning three teams and three separate divisions (sporting, Olympiakos and Hull),

There, replaced a bid word I didn't understand for a big word I do. Makes perfect sense now. :coffee:
