If Everton play a clever waiting game, they might get Silva for free next month...if 3 defeats in a row become 5 or 6.

Hammers and Newcastle up next but then followed by Man United & Spurs.

Apart from a very select group of elite managers who almost guarantee success there is a large element of risk with any appointment.

We certainly are not at a level where we can attract a manager that guarantees success.
But, we are at a level that can attract nearly everybody else.

I do believe that if Everton want Silva then he will come, just as Moyes left for Utd as soon as they expressed an interest.

Everton are a club with big potential and the number of clubs that are bigger than Everton and can cherry pick from us is far smaller than a club like Watford.

Any player that Silva signs at Watford and does really well there is not going to stay there long. This is also true of Everton, but we are higher up the food chain.

I think it probably will happen and just as soon as RK was sacked I felt that Benitez and Silva were the two long term managers that we might be interested in.

For me, Silva is the outstanding realistic candidate. I had thought that a short-term option such as Hiddink or van Gaal would be sought, in order to allow Silva's contract to expire, but this would be even better.

I'd rather stick with Unsworth as temporary manager (without any given timescale) rather than make a rash decision on the wrong manager. I certainly wouldn't want him to be installed on a permanent basis at this stage until he has proven that he is worthy of it. He hasn't shown that he is capable so far but that may change the longer he has.

I would hope that the new person would be in place by end of December at the latest as I believe it would be easier to attract players during the transfer window.

..only somebody unemployed and in nil demand would come in on a temporary basis. Silva has a Premier League Post, he won’t leave that unless he’s being paid big bucks on a lengthy contract.
