Don’t you see how that works both ways?

I havnt paid mush attention to this thread, but could you explain how this compo we are apparently being asked/told to pay Watford, from you end?

Seriously. I get why we think its daft, but whats your take on it?

Brands is quoted as saying that we want to employ a different model now with the DoF having more responsibility? so Silva will be head coach not Manager?

There seems to be a few teams in the premier league doing this now. Looks like Arsenal are going down the same road this summer as well. It makes sense, it's been the way its done in a lot of leagues and as more and more European coaches come in, they are more comfortable in this role.

Still the sporting director and coach need to be on the same page.

Suits me, ensures future stability provided Brands does a good job and hires the correct staff throughout the club. Means we'll always have a style of play/ philosophy that coaching teams have to adhere to

Watford and Everton - deadliest of enemies. Now known as the Silva derby

At least we know who we're facing on day one, like when Big Ron went back to Sheff Wed on the first day of 91/92. Not fixed at all...

If only you would accept that our club has done nothing wrong. Ask any neutral fan and they will say the same when given the below facts:

Everton approach silva

Watford refuse

Everton come back with increased offer

Watford refuse

Everton look elswhere and appoint Alladyce

Watford win the odd game or so in the aftermath

Watford then go on a bad run and sack Silva 2 months after

If the FA dont see sense then football is bent especially after the Ross Barkley transfer- but of course thats Chelsea who are a media darling so get let off.
In the hope of defusing the nature of this, I will answer this honestly...
If that’s the case then sincerely, fair enough. If the PL investigate and nothing is found to have been untoward, I will happily come here on take both barrels.

I understand the burden of proof is upon us. But as has been said a bit on here - no one knows what happened. So any suggestions from myself or any of you to the contrary are just whispers in the wind.

What I will say is that as a fan of WFC, I likely have a better idea of how our club is run and how our board operate. Much the same as you with your club. And I can say very honestly that whilst our owner has had his fair share of scrapes in Italy, he’s been found guilty of precisely none. Indeed the payouts in his favour have been numerous. We got caught up in a very dodgy story over here regarding a fake letter - we were guilty but it was negligent on the owners part, nothing more. The guy he employed as chairman was at fault and swiftly removed and said chairman admitted the owner had no knowledge of what happened prior.

Whilst I can’t say it with certainty, but I do say it with confidence, is that our owner is very unlikely to have gone to the PL with just a few poor results as evidence as to what happened. He is a Harvard educated lawyer before all this. He will know all about burden of proof and supplying evidence.

But again, and finally, I will say that none of us know for sure. Not me. None of you. And anyone claiming otherwise with certainty makes themselves look stupid.

Let’s see what happens.

Alright mush?

Sound mate. Just not popped in this thread much.

Yawn.

Let’s be honest about it. The minute any WFC fan says anything you don’t like, you’ll ask your Mod’s to ban us. It’s happened before. Even on this thread. You are all (mostly) just too precious.
I am not sure what exactly you expect at the moment on an Everton site.

I think Watford overplayed their hand with Silva last year. We were not aware of it at the time but it looks as if he was strenuously trying to leave Watford to get to Everton, you mentioned about staying away for three days from the club.
I think that the situation had become untenable between club and manager and this in time led to his sacking as he was in a job he had no interest in. I expect that he was probably well aware of the Everton interest when he brought his team to Everton. I think that he had decided to stay until the summer and then leave.
Watford anticipated losing their manager for nothing and complained to the authorities believing they can still force Everton to compensate them... which I believe will happen.
I think it is simply about how much and my guess would be 4m to 6m. If they had accepted the Everton bid last year they would have had a multiple of this.

The question then remains is how good a manager is Silva, Watford had a brilliant start and then faded, it does seem as if the managers head was turned and the question remains if that affected performances or the season was going to tail away anyway.
The new manager has given ye stability but I think that next year ye will be a club being mentioned for relegation.... as we may well be ourselves.

Top 7. Coining a new popular phrase there just to make yourself sound like you deserve to be in the company of the other 6? You fool no one but yourselves with such claims.

We may be tinpot, or small, or lacking in history or anything you wish to throw at us. But at least we know our place. And if you believe all the things you say about us, then we are punching well above our weight whilst consistently taking points off you each season. I’d say that says far more about you and your illusions of grandeur than it does about how insignificant we are. You are a dying power that never really was.

Good point mate, its important to self reflective, i see us at he bottom of a league of seven. we are the poorest performing of all the big clubs to be honest at this moment in time.

I didn't mean to be demaning of a particular club, its just an accurate account of the reality of the league. The clubs i mentioned including your own are on an egg timer in this league, you are one or two bad decisions away from going down the leagues.

This season we have been awful, we blew 200mill on dross, made two bad managerial decisions, played without a forward for half a season and still managed to be 8th in the table ahead all the egg timer clubs, if an egg timer club did that they go into oblivion. Difference being we can turn the head of a Walcott, catch the eye of an upcoming a manager to attract and have foundations, stature and reputation. We can always improve and be attractive.

As has been proven with Silva, clubs like our can rock your boat, destabilize a club and unravel a season by just being more attractive these unfortunately for clubs like Watford is the truth and has come to pass. There is a food chain and some clubs just serve a function, while the ones in top 7 ebb and flow through the decades winning trophies sometimes up sometimes down. Im not naive to think other teams are more attractive then us, Lukaku to Utd for example. But we are permanency in this league and carry attractiveness and weight as your own club has learned through its season unraveling.

We haven't been relegated since 1951, we have been relegated twice in our whole history, we have spent four seasons outside the top flight in the history of organised football.

As for watford punching above their weight i have very little respect for the achievements however relative they are, for me you gerrymandereded the championship, with bringing in ringers from Udinese and Granada hardly highly sceintific ground breaking coaching, youth development or investing in club human infrastructure across age groups is it.

In reality watford arent going to be PL in five years time.

Yes I do, but I've just seen your sneaky edit to your 'yawn' post about us being precious, that was uncalled for again mate.

We've asked nicely for you to debate with us in a respectful manner and you've lobbed an insult in again, was there any need for that? I had great respect for the way you approached this whole saga before but resorting to that sort of behaviour shows you in a poor light.

An apology would be nice, otherwise I suggest you take your sarky opinion somewhere else. I don't often ban opposition fans on here but the number of reports I've had come through suggest I might have to take action shortly.
Keep an eye on him Bungs.
