Tapping up is so frequent in football, occassionally clubs get caught, but you can guarantee that the majority of players and some coaches who move get tapped up in one way or another, be it through their agent passing on info, to speaking with a prospective new manager on the phone etc. No club does anything without speaking and researching players and coaches before buying. It is what it is. Some go through proper channels, but very often it'll be done quietly. The problem arises if it gets made public for whatever reason.

I don't know the ins and outs of this Watford thing, but it doesn't exactly sound that different to what happens time and time again in football. The unusual part of it is maybe that Silva reacted in such a way that affected his team so much. But coaches get tapped up / approached during the season all the time. Normally they can carry on ok.

Sometimes I wish I had been a lawyer as it sounds as though Watford are alleging the Everton are guilt of inducing Silva to breach his contract, which, if not settled could end up in court, as it seems Liverpool nearly did last year over van Dijk.

The fact they sacked him without honouring him salary owed means they have already penalised him - headhunting goes in all walks of job life - I was once head hunted - my larks manager did his best to keep me, but it was fake promises then called me a rat leaving a sinking ship!
So imo Watford if they had a case should have sued us earlier than this Sila is a free agent owed money from Watford FC - he is taking them to an FA tribunal it's absurd they are blaming us!

In the hope of defusing the nature of this, I will answer this honestly...
If that’s the case then sincerely, fair enough. If the PL investigate and nothing is found to have been untoward, I will happily come here on take both barrels.

I understand the burden of proof is upon us. But as has been said a bit on here - no one knows what happened. So any suggestions from myself or any of you to the contrary are just whispers in the wind.

What I will say is that as a fan of WFC, I likely have a better idea of how our club is run and how our board operate. Much the same as you with your club. And I can say very honestly that whilst our owner has had his fair share of scrapes in Italy, he’s been found guilty of precisely none. Indeed the payouts in his favour have been numerous. We got caught up in a very dodgy story over here regarding a fake letter - we were guilty but it was negligent on the owners part, nothing more. The guy he employed as chairman was at fault and swiftly removed and said chairman admitted the owner had no knowledge of what happened prior.

Whilst I can’t say it with certainty, but I do say it with confidence, is that our owner is very unlikely to have gone to the PL with just a few poor results as evidence as to what happened. He is a Harvard educated lawyer before all this. He will know all about burden of proof and supplying evidence.

But again, and finally, I will say that none of us know for sure. Not me. None of you. And anyone claiming otherwise with certainty makes themselves look stupid.

You make it sound like tapping up doesn't go on all the time, it does. Like we have done a heinous out of the ordinary thing, I refuse to believe Watford have never destabilised another club by approaching a manager or player. You make it sound like Watford are blameless they aren't. It's modern football. This will end the way it always ends we appoint him and pay you some compensation. Your model creates instability for any manager as they know they face the sack every summer. Could that be partly why Silva's head was turned alongside the chance to take a step up? Get on with worrying about who your next manager will be old pal.
